DENMON Staff Writer Black Knight Rob Wilson con- tinued his high scoring for the Lake-Lehman cagers last Thurs- day night at Northwest, as the Knights took the season opener 69-42 on the Rangers floor. Wilson tossed in 20 points, 10 of them in the first half to help his Knights take a 39-21 lead. He was assisted by teammate Glenn Nilsson who put in five three-point- ers in the first half... Troy Strauser and Ben Haugh- ney also hit the double figures column by scoring 15 points each, one of Strauser’s a three-pointer. Bob Jones aided in the scoring by putting in two three-pointers for the Knights. The Rangers took a 15-12 lead in the first period before the Black ¢ Knights pulled off a 24-0 run to start them on the path to the win. They outscored the Rangers 39-24 in the first halfand outscored them 14-11 and 13-10 in the final peri- ods to hold on to their lead. Black Knight Wilson went into Saturday night's game against Bishop Hafey with a sprained ankle, but he wrapped it well with tape and put on a great perform- ance. He scored 19 points and led his team to a 71-58 win over the team that defeated the Knights in four overtimes the first half. Wilson injured his ankle in the Knights game with Northwest Thursday night but he refused to give in and with help from the Knights athletic director and Edward Edwards, they had Wilson's ankle well enough for him to play Saturday night. Wilson gave Edwards the credit for helping him with his ankle and said he didn’t think about it while he was in the game. He was more determined that his team would run its record to 2-0 in the second half. Wilson scored nine points in the first quarter, leading the Knights to a 13-2 lead which the Vikings never overcame. Troy Strauser added points to help the Knights take a 19-10 lead at the end of the first quarter. Strauser continued to score and helped the Knights take a 30-24 into the lockerroom at half time. Ben Haughney and Glenn Nilssen scored eight and 12 re- spectively to aid in the win. Bishop Hafey fought back and had two runs but were unable to overcome the Knights 68-51 lead with only seconds remaining in the game. Strikes 'n' spares Fashion Vending took three points from Grotto Pizza in the Ladies Coun- try League despite E. Roberts hitting 191-176 (521) for the pizza girls. G.H. Harris divided evenly with the Castlettes led by L. Johnson's 188 (477). N. Kozemchak hit 181 and A. Pickering hit 473 for the Castlettes. M. Faux paced Back Mountain Bowl to a 2-2 split with Faux Inn by rolling 242 (561). : In the Charlie Williams Memorial League G.H. Harris took four points from Back Mountain Bowl aided by D. Purvin's 224-204-215 (643), R. Strazdus, Jr.’s 267 (613), and J. Steele’s 602. C. Kazokas added 224 (545) and A. Wendel gave 515. D. Moore paced the Bowl team with 232 (581), B. Searfoss rolled 550, E. Harris hit 538, and K. Bevans 213 (525). Monk Plumbing dropped three points to Mountain Stream Construction whose team rolled a total of 3304. R.
