Smith also said that the construction work is a . minor factor in the decision to relo- cate, with the main reason being the rapid expansion of the company and _the need for bigger offices. EL Garry McCoog, the owner of Back Mountain Music Company, which is located near Ruth K. Smith Company, does not think the con- crete barriers will help prevent acci- dents. “Who is fooling who, there will be just as many accidents whether the barrier is there or not. I don't think most businesses were for it,” said McCoog. : a spokesperson from PennDOT, repaving will start at the upper end of Route 309 September 27. Traffic will be directed into one lane during the day again while paving is under- way, and the barricades will be removed and all lanes open to traffic at night. A spokeswoman from PennDOT says the Dallas Memorial Highway will be repaved and completed by the third week of October. “Police report DALLAS TOWNSHIP Jay Bailey of Tunkhannock was struck by a truck driven by Robert Kasmark of Dallas while Bailey was walking with a friend on Ransom Road, RD, Dallas. Bailey was walking south with a friend while two vehicles also heading south were approaching behind the boy. The first vehicle, driven by a woman, was traveling approximately 30 to 35 miles per hour while the truck behind her driven by Kasmark pulled out into the other lane to pass her. Kasmark allegedly struck Bailey and drug him about 20 feet. Kasmark stopped his vehicle but the car in front of him kept moving. The boy flew from the truck about five feet where he fell to the ground. A witness called the ambulance while Kasmark comforted the vic- tim. When the ambulance and Dal- las Township police arrived Bailey was taken in the ambulance to Nesbitt Memorial Hospital. Kasmark said that while headin south on Ransom Road, he was passing a stopped vehicle when two pedestrians, one Bailey, walking south stepped out in the roadway. Before he could stop he struck the boy on the outside and continued five feet before coming to a full stop. Officer Michael Valeta reported there were approximately 27 feet of skidmarks remaining on the road- way. KINGSTON TOWNSHIP Two vehicles had to be towed from the scene of an accident that occurred Monday, September 19, at’ the intersection of Route 309 and Church Road, Trucksville. Richard Miller, Jr., Shavertown, was traveling south in his 1986 Ford on Route 309 when a 1983 Ford driven by Ruth M. Roberts was traveling east on Church Road approaching the intersection of Church Road and Route 309. Miller stated that he did not realize the light had turned red for Carverton Road at the intersection and he traveled through the red light striking the vehicle driven by Roberts in the left rear quarter area with the front end of his vehicle. Roberts said that the light had turned green for Church and Carver- ton Road and she proceeded through the intersection where she was struck by the Miller vehicle. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Schmid’s tow truck. Patrolman Joseph W. Bren was the investigating officer.
