Officials of local railroads are on the anxious watch for first class stenograph ersyoung men who can handle the ordinary work of a stenographer and also work thomselves into the profes sion of railroading. An official of the Pittsburg St Lake Erie railroad said yesterday tbat not a month in the past 10 years has passed without some of the offices being hampered somewhat in operation because of a lack of efficient men for this kind of work and juBt now there Is a notable shortage in the pas senger department. The Pennsylvania system is also in need of a number of good stenographers. This scarcity of apt and common sense writers of short hand and operators of the typewriter is not confined to railroads, for a number of leading corporations have expressed the same thing in their office work. Pittsburg Pout. The Reynoldsville Business College and Correspondence School fits young men for this work. Sessions held every working day during the year. A Startling Test. To save a life, Dr. T. G. The Concealment of Corruption. In an editorial on the Salus-Grady bill the Pittsburg Christian Ailvocute says: "It Is manifest that the main pur pose of the bill Is not the promotion of the general public, or of private Indi viduals, but to shield politicians from exposure ; and this Is its poril. The press is the greatest protection the public has against dishonest and corrupt politicians. When it Is forbidden, un der severe penalties, to Inform the public on this subject, the people arc helpless. Thoy cannot know tho truth, and cannot protect themselves. The law Is evil In Intent and needlessly drastlo In its provisions. That Its work ing will be injurious to the public we do not doubt." Made Young Again.
