He had been to Paxtonville where he sold a horse for $170 cash. The mon ey consisted of $50 in gold, two $5 bills, one $50 note and three $30 notes. He bad placed the entire amount in his pantaloon pocket, started for home, and after leaving Paxtonville and before he reached the bridge (a few hundrwd yards north of town) he transferred it to his vest pocket. Upon his arrival at home be found the three $20 bills missing. It at once occurred to him that in changing the money from one pooaet to the other was where he had dropped it, and he straightway went to look for it but the closest search revealed nothing. Parties had passed over the road.and one party claims to have seeu a stranger pick something up near the place where Mr. Hasslnger had made the transfer of the money, but the ev idence was not positive enough to lead to any dlsooverlgs. We hope the finder will be honorable enough to return it to Mr. Hasslnger. A short time ago an honest (T) far mer living near Mlffllnburg took a wagon load of eggs to town and ped dled them out at holiday prions, and notwithstanding his guilt edged quo tations the people were eager to buy, for eggs are scarce, you know. It was fortunate for the rural duck, however, that he made tracks for home before breakfast time next morning when the good cooks of the towu proceed to make omelet, ham and eggs, and other like dishes for their morning meal, for the high priced "produce" was found to be far stronger in smell than In food prop erties the eggs were spoiled, evident ly having been laid by sick ohlokens. Investigation revealed the faot that the farmer had salted several hun dred dozed of his hay mow product down on brine last summer when the price was low, but the brine evldeutly lost Its grip, and the bad odor about Mfflinburg followed aa a natural re sult.
