William Strickland died at his home in Hillsgrove on Saturday, April 1, at the age of 74 years, 3 months and IS> days. He will be mourned by all who knew him, as a good citizen of the town. He is survived by his wid ow and the following children: Mrs. John Gibbs of Hooper N. Y.; Mrs. M. B. Quick, Union, N. Y.; Mrs. E. C. Gibbs, West Auburn, Pa.; Frank and Alfred Strickland, Mrs. C. E. Harry Buck visited Lycoming county friends last week. Cassalanova Pleads Guilty. The end of the murder trial of Alfreda "Cassalanova, charged with the killing of Tony Verano on the street at Bull's Head near Scran ton during the noon hour, Jan. '27, came suddenly Thursday of last week at Scranton when the defend ant withdrew his plea of not guil ty and plead guilty. The plea of not guilty was made with the understanding that the court would classify the degree as a second. Sentence was at once pronounced, Judge E. C. Newcomb sentencing him to an indeterminate term of from live to twenty-five years in the Eastern penitentary. This is the only sentence provided for second degree murder in the indeterminate sentence act. Cassalanova and his attorneys lost no time in taking advantage of the chance to plead guilty to sec ond degree murder. Easter at Sonestowa. Sunrise prayer service will be held in the M. E. Church, at six o'clock Sunday morning with Col lins Hazen as leader. The choir will sing special music. Sunday school at 10 o'clock. The ele mentary department will give a i special program of Easter Carols and recitations. Vesper service will be held at 4:00 p. in.the following music will be rendered by the choir: "Springtime" An thems, "Resurrection Morn," "Christ of all Adored" and "Christ ! Hath Won the Victory."
