Considerable unfavoiable comment was indulged in on the present state of the State. Out ol thirty-nine opinions there were no less than twenty two revel's 1 on the list, liveiy case from the courts of Cameron, Lancaster, Mifflin, Perry, Potter, Union, Centre, Ti oga and Blair counties which appeared on the list were reversed. The New York Post's Washington special soys a near friend ot the I resi dent says it has been finally decided to make no changes in the Cabinet until the December session unless some ot the present Cabinet insist upon the accept ance of their resignations. No executive business will be brought before tiie Sen ate except nominations lo lill existing vacancies. The question ol the vacaacy on the United States Supreme bench has not yet been determined. The Telegram's Washington special states that Senator Harris of Tennessee says lie thinks there is no question but that the Democrats will insist upon elect ing a Democratic President pro tern lie fore receiving the credentials ol the fteu ators-elect, but the Democrats are divid ed as to whether they will elect a Secre tary before swearing in the Senators elect. It seems to be the general opinion thai the Republicans will not oiler mater ial opposition to the election of the Pres i lent pro tem of the Senate by their oppo lients, but the fight will be made over the secretaryship, it is said an investiga tion will be called lor when Senator Mil ler of New York presents his credentials on certain charges regarding his election. The Brooklyn Eagle's Washington special says Col. W m. 11. McArdle, Dem ocrat, of the Mississippi Journalist is a candidate for the Secretaryship of the Senate. He will have the support of the Georgia and Mississippi Senators with seattcaing slivngth from North Carolina, Alabama and Florida. York county has had a Urge yield of tomatoes this season. Oil excitement is running very high in the vicinity of Blairsville. It is expected that the paper mill at Lock Haven wijil be in operation before long.
