CARNOGIIAN'S DEATH.— On the lirst day of Argument Court, July 11, it being the lirst session since the death of WARNER IIAYDEN CARNOCIIAN Esq., a member of the bar of this county, on motion of D'A. OVERTON, Esq., his Honor Judge MORROW appointed O. I). KINNEY, Hon. DKLOS ROCKWELL and JOHN F. SAN DERSON, Esq., a committee to present reso lutions expressive of the sense of the court and bar at the great loss sustained, and directed that the report be considered on Wednesday July 13 at 1 o'clock, p. m. At the appointed time the committee presented the following resolutions which were unani mously adopted after appropriate eulogies by Judge MORROW, Senator DA VIES, D'A. OVER TON, 11. N. WILLIAMS, ex-Senator EOCK- M ELL, R. A. MERCUiI, WM. FOYLE, Hon. B. S. RENTLY, of Williamsport, and O. D. KINNEY, The addresses all bore eloquent testimony to the personal worth and profes sional ability of Mr. CARNOCIIAN : WHEREAS, Warner 11. Carnociian, an honored member of this Bar, after a protracted struggle y.'itli that insiduous disease consumption, repelling it for a time by the exercise of his strong will, de parted this life on the 17th day of June. The many friends in Bradford of Judge THOMAS ivili heartily congratulate him in the attainment of so many years, anil especi ally that lie is esteemed worthy of such marks of r sped by the people among whom be lias lis'ed for the past twenty-live years: 'I ho residence of ibm. Chester Thomas, sr , police judge of this city, was taken by storm, Monday evening by a large party of ladies and gent lemon. The Judge was seventy-one years old yesterday and his friends and rela tives determined to give him a genuine sur prise party in honor of the event. At nfue o'clock a reporter of the Capital found the Judge's residence and grounds brilliantly lighted and in full possession of a large com pany engaged in congratulating the Judge on the attainment of his seventy-tirst birthday, and wishing many continued years of happi ness ami prosperity. All seemed to enjoy themselves hugely and a cordial spirit of hearty congratulation ruled the hour. Judge Thomas recited to some of the older members of the company many of the intot ing incidents of bis long and eventful life, and meal e ! the fact that his life covered a period which marked the commencement of nearly all the (important events connected with the marvelous progress of the present century, lie called to mind most of the im port ant political movements of the last fifty years, and altogether the conversation was full of interesting reminiscences of the last halfcenturv. A large easy chair, presented by Misses Ryan and Case was a most appropri ate gift, besides a large uumber of other ar ticles we did not have a chance to eneurnerate. Refreshments were served at 10 o'clock, and it was not till a late hour that all the compa ny had departed, each leaving with the Judge and Mrs. Thomas their best wishes for many years of life and happiness. An adjourned special meeting of the Man tua Hook and Ladder Company, N0.4, will be held Saturday evening at 7:30 sharp.
