i • The U. S. Sank Case. t . ' , • ipupposed, the presentment against titution . has been quashed; and is we imagined, from an insinuation we aw a few days siuce in one of the Loco '. , co prints, which was contained in the 1, ' .stion, “Will the Bank triumph ? we nail see." This we considered a plain indication that the editor was inclined to think that the power of gold would invade the temple of Justice, and crush the rights Of the people. This kind of slang may lo well enough for the diseased appetites if his party slaves, but we do think that , io man of any sense, would for a moment' ntertain any such foolish and preposter- 1 us notion. If there has been any influ..! , nce coming from any place, it never ome from the Bank, but has its origin i- - m the high places in our State Govern- ment. The gold of a broken Bank has long since become powerless,—or rather the want of gold has rendered them pow erless. All three of the Judges delivered dill. erent opinions, yet all arrived at the same conclusion, that the presentment should be quashed. It is, however, presumed that the case will again be brought in a legal form before the Court. For our own part, we feel a strong desire to see it there is not too much truth in many of the char• gee which have been laid at the door of d that defunct monster. In particular we feel desirous of learning in what manner' the 599,000 was disposed of, and how it was shared, and who drew the largest prize. We shall be astonished ►f it does not appear that a certain very lucky who we all know understands hi. ding remarkabl j well, came in for a pret ty large grab. Ladies' World of Fashion. We have received the first No. of a beautiful periodical, publishsd in the Led ger Buildings, Philadelphia, by C. J. Pe. I terson ; and we do not think that we can occupy a portion of our 'paper to better purpose, than by a notice. . It is published monthly, on superior white paper, and contains 32 large octavo pages, and is embellished with an elegant steel engraving, and a plate of fashions, which are promised in advance of all other magazines. The whole is got up in a style reflecting much credit to both prin. JO. and publisher, and may well be con altered an ornament to a centre table.- 16 Literary character will vie with any other . magazine that has come under our notice ; and we cannot too earnestly commend it to such as are desirous of receiving an excellent, as well as beauti• ful ladies parlor companion. Lace patterns — aki Embroider!, will occasionally vary the character of the engravings. ,76e terms are remarkably moderate, and great inducements are held out for the formation of clubs.—s 2, always in advance, for one copy,— $5 for three co pies—or $lO for eight copies. We will be happy to receive the names and money for any number of it, and will forward trimiediately, and insure a quick return of the value of their money. A specimen of the Ladies companion can be seen by callingon us at any time. 1 Governor'* Message. (11r.
