So then ' the Episcopalians of New England avoid all extraneous questions. The I'ricst aud the Lovite avoided all ex traneous questions too. Each followed his own Ilrverend and diguified noso right btraight ahead, without looking to the right or to the left; while the roor, mis guided, fanatical Samaritan, at the risk of bis purse, and for aught we know at the rik of Lis reputation too, and certainly vu:h no eye to " denominational " pros perity, turned aside to gather up and nurse the mutilated form of him who full among tha thieve!). Then, in our opinion, he utters a slander on that noble body of Christians ! If imbued with their own Liturgy, tbey cannot be indifferent to the solution of any question rn w hich depends the welfare or improve ment of any portion of the human race, i'he true Episcopalion regards every hu jmn being as his fellow-heir to an immor tal destiny. The receipts of tha Society were about three thousand dollar?. A Report, al?o, from the Itcv. G.M.Spratt, the General A-ent, was listened to with deep interest. In the afternoon, the llcv. Henry C. Fish, of Xewark, N. J., delivered an exceeding ly eloquent Address on Ministerial Edu cation trite subject, yet treated in a new and original mauncr, and illustrated with a very great felicity. We dare not attempt a sketch of the Address, as our pea could not do justice to it all wo desired, at the time of its delivery, was, that all onr vil lage could have heprd it a'pd tharcd in the pleasures of the occasion. Cue tho't struck us with very great force : the de sign of God in bringing His ministers out of the mitUic and lower classes, to make them strong, sympathetic and laud as ministers of Jesus Christ. An address of great elegance of diction followed, by the llcv. J. II. Cuthbcrt of the I'hil.lst liap. Church, aud still deepen td the impression of the former address, lie v. 0. W. An nablc, recently a lawyer, now Pastor of the Germantown ISaptist Church, gave the last address, full of rich thought aud well delivered. It has been our privilege to hear tho R;v. Gentleman be fore, but ricvcr more iu his clement, and ucver did native eloquence flow more free ly from his lips, than on this occasion. He went beyond himself, and immense applauso burst forth from the delighted audience at frequent intervals. His theme "The Men for tho Times," was handled in a masterly way, and aptly illustrated and enforced. There is ever a rich vein of pleasantry or wit, that amuses and in structs. Lloyd's Rrass Band, of Muncy, was present, and with excellent music lent additional charm to the exercises. liut the Cuinmcncemriit day, to-day, was " the last, tho great day of the feast" At an tarly hour, the multitudes came from the four quarters of the Kartb, the cast, west, north and south, l'hila. city shook hands with Lewisburg, now her near neighbor, being but C hours distant by Railroad. Remarkable O'-'cuukence. A cir cumstance of a somewhat extraordinary character, occurreja short time siuec in one of the flourishing towns of the Mid laud counties. A clergyman died, and his mother and sisters, ou tho third day after his decease, recollecting that no like ness remained of the once cherished son and brother, it was agreed, ere tho grave closed over him, that the body should be unshroudtd and a likeness taken. A young lady of some professional celebrity, was engaged for tho task. She, with the assistance of the attendant, took off the shroud, and jilaccd it in the requisite posture; but other duties requiring the artist's attention, the bkctch was deferred till noon. About twelve o'clock, at the foot of the bed, the lady commenced and went through an hour's work on the im age of death. At this stage of the pro ceedings, by some unaccountable motion, the head of the death-like figure fell on the side. Nothing daunted, tho artist carefully took the head to replace it, when lo ! the eyes opened, and staring her full in the face, " the dead " iuquired, " Who arc you? The young "professional," without trepidation, took the bandage from his head and rubbed his neck. He immediately saw the shroud, aud laughed immoderately. The artist quietly called the family ; their joy may be imagined, but cannot be described. That evening, he who had lain three days in Lis shroud, bemoaned by mothers aud bLster.s with ag otizing tears, gladdened their hearts by taking Lis accustomed place at their tea table, and at this moment is making an excursion to North Wales.
