No pecuniary or any offer will induce her to give up her claim to Taxis. It al so directs the movements of the Minister, in case hos -tilitios between Mexico and the United States should take place. The Minister, in his note to the editor, re quests the publication, "to confound thowi in the United States who may have 'believed that the Mexican government esteemed slight , ly national honor, and did not know how to appreciate slier rights." The Mexican war steamers Goadaloupe and Mon tezuma arrived at New York on Saturday evening, in four days from Charleston.—Pexasyteastian. - The Vice Presidertcy.—We find the following en nouncensent in the Madisonian of Saturday:— "As numerous communications have been received bythe committee. Relative to the candidate fur Vice Presidency, we are authorized to say that the subject is under consideration, and that the result will, ere ' long, be made known to our friends. "And when promulgated, we may venture topredict ,that it will meet the hearty concurrence of all the ad vocates of "Tyler and Texas." "We have only to add that it is confidently expected .the friends of the Administration every where will be found, when the signal for battle is given, with arms in their hands, and their "flints" well "picked." And instead of being "shot down" as some of tho irenemies have predicted, they may rely upon it that a very diff inent destiny awaits them." — Startling Discovery.—The Philadelphia Gazette • of Saturday evening says: "No little excitement has just been created in the Stock Board and among the whole circle interested in tbe Stock Lousiness, by the discovery of a telegraph is communication between this city and New Yerk.— SVe remember that the New York correspondent of the North American several months ago put the pub lic on its guard against this mode of immediate de spatch practised by certainarties in both cities. The fact, then doubted , is prove d now beyond any ques tion. We need not say that a combination of thissort is entirely at variance with the safe transaction of bu siness by parties not in the secret." liZr The London papers announce the death of - William Crockford, the noted proprietor of a club ga ming establishment "of tbe highest respectapility."— He rose from the lowest positicn in society to the ac quisition of a large fortune, and was really a very re. -spectable man in conduct and personal character.
