On Sunday a large concourse of the friends of John Bailey, of the Second Ward, followed his remains to their last resting place. H fell a victim of this wick ed rebellion; . : while nobly fighting for his native North. He was a member of Co. E, Bth Reserves, 'and passed through all the battles of the Peninsular and Virginia campaigns, eleven in number, unscathed, but fell at Antietam, pierced by ' five balls, three in the head, one in thebreat and one is the thigh. His remains were brought home last week by his brother, Thomas liailey,of Smithfield street, and buried as a soldier should be. He was about thirty two years of age and had many friends, who were much attached to him for his generous impulses and many good guar ties of bead and heart. Stationery Packages. His many friends here will be glad to see him again, though we understand he has lost a leg, amputated - by reason of a wound in the foot, received at Cedar Mountain, where he was taken prisoner. • Trimble's This popular resort is quite as largely attended this season as ever betore. The stock company,is well kept up, and new attractions are constantly offering. Two new stars are now announced—Nellie Huntley, and Charley Monroe—both capi tal vocalists and comedians, who come with a reputation which must ensure sue cess. They are well worth seeing, and it must pay to go to the "Varieties." Mazeppa. This ever popular and most exciting drama will be produced at the Theatre to night. arrest prepUrations have been made to bring it out in good style, and new scenery and decorations have been supplied.
