Mo., Sept. 23 --Thre following accounts of the siege-of Lexington is fur nished to the St. Louis Republican, by Henry Bradburn, one of Col.. Mulligan's soldiers, who left Lexington ' Saturday morning. The Fort was sure endered on Friday afternoon. The men _fought for Ilftymine hours without water, and had only three barrels of vinegar to quench their thirst during all that time. There were no springs or wells of water in the Camp grout(' as has been stated. The supply was from the river, and was cut off after a desperate fight on Wednrsday. The camp ground consisted of about ten acres, and was located a short distarce from the river. There were breastworks en tirely around it, with the exception of the portion next the river. It was here the hardest fighting took place. The rebels procured a large number of hrmp hales. roll.d them in advance end under their cover, gradually succeeded in a position in the rear. They then cut off the supp'y of water, and had the fort cernpletely sun. rounded. They made but few charges upon the breastworks during the entire siege. Their object seemed to be to sur. round the fort, and cut cd . tho supply of water. In having succeeded in this, they a waitrd until Crlonel Mulligan was corn relied to yield to a f, e more terrible than the twenty-seven thousand rebels that Fur. rounded him. Previous to the surrender be offered to tike a position e n a level spot of ground, and 'give General Price the odds of four to one in a fair and open fight, but no attention was paid to it. After the surrender the rebels mounted the breastworks and seemed mad with joy. As soon as the surrender took place a party took down the Hag and trailed in the dust. An immense amount of gold, supposed to be about a quarter cf a million, fell into the IN ssessiort of the rebels. It was taken from the banks and buried by Col. Mulligan on the camp ground wane time ego; the rebels speedily unearthed it. Col. Mulligan wept l'ke child when he found hirmelf compelled to surrender. The mornirg after the sur. render the men were all released on parole, and fer , led across the river. The officers were detained. The lobs of the rebles is not known, but it is thought not to be less than a thou sand killed and wounded. Their first ati. tack proved more disastrous to Item than the long siege that followed. Poria day or two previous to the last attack they were engaged in burying their, dead. News from Washington City.
