A. Lantz, in his store, manufactured by Evans & Watson, andputin books and papers precisely alike. j The fire was started at 8£ {o'clock, A. M., and kept up until four cords of hickory,'lwo cords dry oak and half chestnut top wood were entirely consumed, the whole under the!superintendence of the [subscribers, members of the Committee. The Safes were then cooled off with water, after which they were opened and the books and papers taken out by the Committee and sent to H. A. Lanlz’s store for public examination, after they were first .examined and marked by Ibp Committee. The {books and papers taken from the Safe manufactured by Evans So Watson were but jsljglilteaSecled by the intense heat, while those the'Safe manufactured by Farrels Sc Herring, were in our judgment, damaged fully fifteen per cent more-than those taken from Evans So Watson’s Safe. In considering the advantages of emigrating to this locality the following are presented: f { T -First —The soil ia a rich limestone, dupable of raising the heaviest crops, owin g to which i this settlement -has attained its present groat prosperity. j | Second —lt ia the centre of tlie great North West Coal Ba sin, and is destined soon to become one of the greatest busi ness places in the State. It will supply the great Lake mar ket, (according to population and travel the greatest la the Union.) It has five workable veins iof the best Bituminous Coal’ amounting in the agregaic to over 22 feet, which makes 22,000 tons of coal under eaph acre. This will make the land' of inestimable value. { The eminent state geologist j Dr. Chas.T. Jackson of Boston, has made a gcologucal survey of the land, and analysed the coal, the iron ore and the-limiestono. This report together with maps will bo furnished tjo inquirers. Third —Three railroads tiro laid out through this properly. The Snubury and Erie Railroad gives us a market for our rtfal to the lakes—it runs from Erie to Philadelphia. A largo part of this road has been finished, and is now in running order. A heavy force is now working}from Erie towards our laud in ; the western direction, the means for the completion of which i Injts been raised—it will soon bo finished. The Alleghany Valley Itailroad connects us with New York. Boston and Pitts burg. The Venango lload connects us.with the West. ■ There arc already good Turnpike Uoqds running through this property, various other rpaiU.lmvo been opened to accum nio date the emigration ami settlement which has already ta ken place. - j - There Is no opportunity eqoaV to it now offered to tin} man who wants to provide himself a heme in an easy way, and mako a settlement where he can lire in prosperity and inde pendence in a climate PERFECTLY U EALTITV. Nodose of the foyer ever having bo»*ii .known to occur in this settlement. It is not like going to the backwood** of the West, among perhaps intoleijant people, where thorp is no so ciety, churches, or srhools, where the price of land is high, mm where the emigrant, after being used to the healthiest cli mute In ttit* world, has to endnre-•'itkiiess and pain, and per haps ruins his health and that of his family. But here is a thriving settlement having three tow ns, containing churches, 1 schools, hotels, stores, *aw mil!', grist mills, and everything i desired. There ta a cash market at hand. The lumber trade I Ittbt'yeor amounted to over iwo hundred mOlfon feet of luoi j bar. Jn a short time, owing to the coal, it will become still : more valuable, as a nmnberjof iron works and manufactories will soon be started; they are at present starting them ex tensively, at Warren. Eveni for those who do not wish to go there, the payments are such that they can easily buy a farm to save their rising families from want in the future, or to gsiin a competence by the n**o which will take place in the value of lands. By an outlay scarcely missed, a substantial provision can be made. ; . . Petaorte should make early application, apply or write toE.
