They have also produced some singularly suc cessful cures in Rheumatism, Gout, Dropsy, Gravel, Erysipelas, Palpitation of the Heart, Pams in the Back, Stomach, and Side; Tbey.should be freely taken in the spring of the year, to purify the blood and prepare the system for the change of seasons. An occasional dose stimulates the stomach and bowels into healthy action, and*restorcs [the appe tite and vigor. They .purify the blood, and, by their stimulant action on lithe circulatory system, reno vate the strength of the body, and restore the wasted or diseased energies of the wholciOtganism. Hence an occasional aoso is advantageous, even though no serious derangement exists; bat un necessary dosing should never be carried too far, as every purgative medicine reduces the strength, when taken to excess.
