EDITOR. WEDSESDATf PRNlJiG AUG. fi, 1S56. Itrimbllcnn Ticket. STATE. For Governor, Gen. JAMES A. BEAVER, of Centre County, For Lieut. Governor, Hon. WILLIAM T. DAVIES, of Bradford County. For Auditor General, Col. A. WILSON NORRIS, of Philadelphia. For Seeretary of Internal Affairs, Col. THOMAS J. STEWART, of Montgomery County. For Congress-at-Large, Gen. EDWIN S. OSBORNE, of Luzerno County. COUNTY. Congress, Hon. J. B. AONEW. Subject to action of District Conference. Assembly, CHARLES A. RANDALL. Treasurer, SOLOMON FITZGERALD. Surveyor, HENRY C. WHITTEKIN. Coroner, Dr. J. W. MORROW. GET REGISTERED. Republicans should Bee tbat their names are properly registered. Sep tember 2, is the last day for registra tion. Republican Committeemen in each district should examine the lists carefully and if the names of any Re publican voters are omitted see that they are properly registered and as sessed. The lists can be found at the voting place in each election district. The Democrats at their State Con vention in Barrisburg last week, nom inated Chauncey F. Black for Govern or; Lieut.-Gov., Robert Bruce Rick ctts, of Luzerne county ; Auditor Gen eral, "W. J. Brennan, of Allegheny county; Secretary of Internal Affairs, J. Simpson Africa, of Huntingdon county; Congress-at-Large, Maxwell Stevenson of Philadelphia. With the exception .. of Black and Africa, the average voter will doubtless wonder who these gentlemen are, anyway. See to it right away that you are registered, Rep ublicans. Young Re publicans Bhould be especially partic ular about this matter. The Chicago Anarchists must hang, at least seven out of a possible eight of them, whose trials ended last week. August Spies, A. R. Parsons, Louis Linng, Michael Schwab, George En gel, Samuel Fielden, and Adolph Fischer will stretch hemp unless some hitch in the future proceedings pre vents it, while Oscar Neebe will lan guish in prison for fifteen years. This, we should say, was a trifling backset to Anarchism or we don't read the eigne aright Let the good work go on. The Committeemen in the several townships should Bee that all Repub licans are registered. Examine the list on tbe door of the election houses and if any are left off, see that their names are immediately placed on the Registry. The rapids and whirlpool at Niaga ra have found another victim. James Soott, a fisherman of Lewieton, Onta rio, lost his life last Thursday in an Attempt to pass through these waters in a cork suit; while Graham, the Philadelphia cooper, was severely bruised in repeating Lis passage of the rapids in a barrel. It is to be hoped this disaster will result in "laying" for a time the spirit of reckless adven ture which has lately made Niagara and the Brooklyn bridge the scenes of its exploits. The Democratic Platform. The platform adopted by tbe Con vention at Ilarrisburg, last Wednes day is of tbe regulation Democratic pattern modified to suit tbe latitude of Pennsylvania, and is of more than usual brevity. The Democratic plat form of 1884 is reaffirmed, but in view of the dubious tariff plank in that document declaring that "fedeval taxation shall be for public purposes exclusively" a special clause is incor porated in the Ilarrisburg platform declaring against reducing duties low er "than will be ample to cover any J. E. WENK, increased cost of production which may exist in consequence of the higher rate of wages prevailing in this com munity." This is good protection doc trine, and we congratulate the Dem ocracy of Pennsylvania on having at last got a Convention which is willing to come bo nearly in out of the fog on the question of protection to Ameri can labor. President Cleveland and Governor Pattison receive perfunctory endorse ments in some well-turned sentences. Labor and its needs are given a spec ial plank and a long array of meas ures are proposed for their benefit, some of which are already in the stat ute book, and that tbe rest are not there is not because of Republican op position. In regard to railroads and other corporations the Convention takes" the eafo course of promising to enforce the Constitution by appropriate legislation without going into the diffi cult question what particular legisla tion is and what is not appropriate. The death of the Democratic chief tans Hendricks, McClellan, Sey mour, Hancock and Tilden, all within a very recent period, is very properly made the subject of a brief Conven tion threnody. The studious silence of the platform on the liquor question is in strong contrast with the frank, courageous language of the Republican platform in favor of submitting a prohibitory amendment to a popular vote. The practical friend of temperance reform, who fully understands that the Prohi bition ticket can not be elected, will have little difficulty in view of ibis contrast in deciding which of the two great parties is entitled to his support and co-operation. rhila. iVcw. Who Knows Best ? The victor in the last Democratic fiht, Mr. Randall, with child-like in nocence, assured a newspaper reporter who caught him at the Pittsburgh de pot, that while he had not met Mr. Wallace since the flailing, he was yet confident "Mr. Wallace and bisfiiends would be loyal." About the same time Senator Wallace was saying to a Philadelphia reporter, as he stepped into a Continental Hotel elevator : "I am very happy that I am not a candi date; but there are some things about that convention which you will hear from before tbe fight is over." While the personal organ of Mr. Wallace in this city presents its compliment to Mr. Randall by saying tbat if Wallace and Buckalew can be sent to Congress that "Pennsylvania would be redeem ed from the humiliation of having a mere parliamentary trickster for its chief spokesman in Congress." These ate the facts, and from them you are invited to conclude that the "two wings" of the Democratic party will flop together from this time until the election. Tbe victor assures you tbat the white dove of harmony will perch upon bis banners, while, at the very moment be gives you this assurance, groups of bis defeated and scattered enemies are conspiring together for a renewal of the war upon bim in bis own special field on the floor of Con gress. It is very much to be feared that his dove of harmony will be torn to pieces by the hawk of discord. UarrUburg Telegraph. Good Farm for Sale. Geo. Weant of Tionesta twp., offers his farm for sale.
