Ry. took effect Monday The freight and accommodation down in the forenoon, the afternoon passen ger up, and the night passenger down are the only trains affected by th change, aud tbey are only from one to tea minutes later. We will doubtless get the new time table soon enough to make the change next week. The Brookville Fair takes place lis week. Quite a number of For est's citizens will attend as usual, and will doubtless be well repaid for, their me and expense, as we hear these fairs spoken of highly by those who ave attended them. . Two-cent letter postage is the go now. lhe new deal will doubtless ave the effect to materially lessen the postal card business, as it costs hut one cent more to send a sealed letter at caDDot be read by Tom, Dick and Harry as it passes through the mail- The compositors on the Derrick struck for an advance of 5 cents per 1000 ems on Monday. Since the new ress was bung onto the paper, it re quires about three men to earn enough to keep oue family, and it was either starve or quit, and the boys called it quits. Mr, Hotchkiss wa3 a resident of Forest county for many years, his home being in the Gorman Settlement, nearNeill town.
