R, At a meeting held in Oil City, on Thursday evening last, by the Presi dent and directors of the T. & A. R. R. R. Co., at their general office, Mr. A. B. Kelly. Cashier of May. Park & Co., Bankers, of our place, was elected Treasurer. Resolutions was passed to open books for subscription to the stock at Oil City, New York, and at May, Park & Co.'s bank in our town lhis looks like busiuesa. While we cannot say the road is a certainty, we believe that if our citizeua will take the proper interest the road will be built. Most of the parties working this enterprise are experienced rail road men. and assure us that capitalists East are ready and willing to invest, provided those who will be the most benefited by the road that is, the owners of the timber lands aloug Tionesta creek will do their share. We earnestly hope each aud every citizen of the county will assist in the enterprise. A railroad up Tionesta creek would undoubtedly be the meaus of bunging iu factories for making all kinds of woodeu implements and articles, as no better locality could be found in the country, where all kinds of wood can be had, and in abundance. Regard ing the new road, the following article from the Philadelphia Ledger, of Feb ruary 23, till be of iutereet to our readers : "The Tionesta and Allegheny River Railroad, standard guago, is to be built early this coming spring. This road is one of the remarkably easy grades, not exceeding teu feet to the imle, aud starts from Sheffield, ou the Philadelphia and Erie Railroad, run ning along the Tioueata Creek to its mouth, aud thence down the Alle gheny river on tho east bank to Oil City, a total distauce of 58 miles, and will be an important liuk to Pennsyl vauia Railroad interests, as it will give that company a new route for their Allegheny Valley and low grade road coals to Buffalo and Canada as far as Warreu, instead of only to Oil City, as uow. The new road passes through the newly developed oil territory of the lower portion of Warreu county, as well as -the interior of Foiest county, the entire distance along the Tionesta Creek, a section well known for mil aud its dense valuable limber lands.
