On Monday, Aug. 10, 1801 the company met at Tioiicsta ' and had a drill, speeches, dinner &c, anil the ladies presented it wiih a flag. On calling the roll we found there were GO ready and willing, and I might say anxious for ilu'y. Tins next morn ing early wc embarked on the Alle gheny, on board of a Flat P.oat, com manded by Capt. Win. V hiie, null propelled by two horses. Reaching . Connie's Tavern, late at night, those of us that could staid in the house and the rest in the barn. Bright and early next morning we were afloat, and reached Irvmetoii about 0 o'clock, cs. peeling to connect with the i:"0 train on the P. & E. Wo could not refuse; am in ner! where the edibles came livm I never could conjecture. But where a good, many went to, I know. Alter eating all we could there was taken up not of fragments but of Ko. 1 provisions, three large boxes full, uml shipped with us to lvie and very for tunate for us as it. was s tine three days before we could get our rations regular. And had it not Lceu for the buses iroin Irvinetou, some nt ua would liac went hungry. Oil reporting to Col. McLanc we tniiuil that we could not be mustered without htivirg 81 men. Capt. Knox, leaving the company in command of Lieut. Siowe immediately returned toTioucstu for more recruits. Before Captain returned to Erie, Lieut. Stowft with the 00 men were regularly mustered iuiu the U. 8. Vo. unteer service. On Sept. oih, Captain returned with 2l iimr.i men, which made our number 89. On bept. 0, Capt. Knox and Lieut. Clark were mustered into the Service. A lew dajs after a company from Youngsville was broken up and we received 12 men from that which made us full 101 men. These 101 men are the ones of whom I wish to speak of at present. The following are their nanus and ; what has become of them. Wo copy the following in regard to tho remarks recently passed upon Sen ator Delamater'a alleged violation of his pair with Senator Knight: Ve have already stated editorially that the pair of Senator Delamater and Senator Knight was fairly and honorably terminated by notice(if the former to the latter, unci that Mi. Del amater wasperlectly right in ihecouie he pursued when the M CI u re Gray committee was about to bo drawn. But as some of the newspapers in his district and in other parts f the State, still continue to censure him, we re publish from tlni Beaver L'udienl the following paragr ph, which fully vin dicates tho Senator's course: ' Senat. r Delamater, of Crawford, is abused by certain editors because it is alleged he violated his pair with Sen ator Knighl whi n the committee was drawn to liy the contested election of M'Clurr vs. Grac There was no vin latiou of the pair, and consequently there is no occasion lor abuse. The pair was in de before the election in Philadelphia, ami had no reference to and did not extend to the drawing of a committee. It is always in the p.nv er of a Senator to terminate a pair by notice, and this notice was jriven sev eral days before the lime referred to; but if that had not been the case, as Senator liilliugfclt well mid, his pair only extended to questions of voting Htid not to invol un.ary acts, such as ullouing his name to go into tin box, which he could only prevent by leav ing Senate.
