Douty, while oiling th'e shaft of the monkey rolls at tho Henry Clay Colliery, on Wednesday, had bis right arm caught in the cog gearing and so severely crushed as to require am putation. The operation was performed by Dr. P. H. Pursell. At the mines of tbe same colliery, oa Monday, Samuel Roughtan was caught by a fall of eoal and considerably injured about the back and spine. Philip Scopal was also caught by a fall of eoal in the mines at the Greenback Colliery, on Monday, and bad both thighs fractured. Thayer ft Novks Great Circus. This eelo brated circus and wonderful performing lions and elephants, which are generally eonoeded the beet in tb country, will exhibit in this place on Monday next. Messrs. Thayor ft Noyes hav reoently ad ded a new attraction to their already large collec tion of trained animals. They have purchased, for the sum of ten thousand dollars in gold, th cele brated performing elephant, Hiram. Mr. Charles White, th Lion King, who was seriously injured in th den of four ferocious lious during bis per formance with them in the oity of Rochester, N.
