Th trnth Is, our prodoo dealers regulate th prices for th eonrumort, and as long at th consumers quietly submit to this kind of vassalage they mutt expeot to pay the penalty. There is no regulation of price according to supply and demand. One doaler, find ing an artiole somewhat aearoe, offers, tay, fifty per oent. more fur it than hit noighbor has boon paying. Ilia neighbor, finding himself outbid, concludes to pay the tame, or a little mora. What need be oare ? Hit customer pay the advaneo, and if they can stand It, he it pretty sure that he oan. But the produce dealer it not alone to blame. Some of the farmers eome to market without any fixed prices, and if they ean find good featured dunoct, who ore rockiest enough to pay two prices for an artiole, they wisely conclude that it is not their fault. Thus, we tome times find poople paying twice as much for an artiolo as their neighbors bad paid for it. And thus the prices will be fixod for others, always at tho highest rates. The truo way to regulate the valuo of an article is not to buy it unless it is told at a fair prieo.
