To DAY AND Ire GLontas.—Amid all the outward di monstration of patriotic joy, of course the wants of the inner man will not be overlooked. We were reminded of this fact more especially last evening, while sipping our fragrant coffee at the restaurant of that prince or caterers, J. W. Price, southwest corner of Fourth end Chestnut streets, and witnessing the sumptu ous preparations for making to-day anything else than a fast. As thousands of our citizens, and strangers in the city, will necessarily dine down town, we thought this an item worth chronicling. For an A No.l dinner com mend us to Price's always. While his rebel namesake in the distant West is literally fizzling out in a bad cause, our Price is daily acquiring new laurels in a good one. film cover, while he feeds his guests on the cream of the market, his prices are as moderate as hie assistants are obliging and polite. The sizes of them vary to snit all classes of consumers, from the smallest faintly to the largest hotel. WITTERS & Co.'s " LIGHT Ex- Ponium," No. 35 North Eighth street, corner of Filbert, has acquired new fame by the fact that the unanimous decision of the public with regard to their Lamps, for burning Kerosene 03, being the best in alt respects in the market. Porut...ta EttnOßS.—lt is an entire mistake to suppose that mortar boats are employed in the brick. laying tine, that all the rifled. cannon in use were stolen by Floyel, the Thief ; or that guns wear pantaloons be, cause they have breeches. From where our laurelled harmers fly On Western hills remote, It spreads to Maine's inclement sky; While lands that Intermediate lie In echoes to that shout reply, And swell the joyous note. Those shouts, which Western gales convey, Suit well this consecrated day, Which gave a Washington to earth; To celebrate the hero's birth, Awl Meniorine his umichloos worth. What saunas could suit as well de thog which ppeak pt patriot zeal, To Freedom's cause as true as steel, And tales of victory tell ? What offerings more could suit the time Than such a sacrifice sublime As we to Freedom's slier bear 7 Whole hecatombs of traitors there, 'l' avenge our nation's wrongs are given, And execute tho will of Heaven. Come, freemen, let your voices rise To bless this precious sacrifice!
