The transactions at the slaughter house were un important. We are gratified to learn that the opening of the trade of the great blahanoy coal field to this city is at hand. The contractors for the tunnel under the Broad Mountain have proseouted the work with so mush vigor that nearly two-thirds of the distance has been driven, and there Is no longer any seasonable room to doubt that it will be finish ed in season for the trade of 1882. The charge for tolls and motive power has been fixed at 75 cents per ton from Waste Rouse Run, Mahsnoy City, and intermediate points, to Port Clinton, with a discount of 10 par oentum to al collieries which shall furnish a tonnage of 10,000 tons within twelve months after the road shall be finished and in operation to their respective points of connection therewith. Tbis allowance is to be continued to all parties complying with this condi tion until the let of January, 1872, unless an equal or greater reduotion he made in the charges during the interim, and we understand that arrangements are already made for opening a number of first. class collieries in ample time to furnish' the requi site tonnage.
