We spent about an hour in the Diamond market yesterday afternoon, making Inquiries, and every housekeeper of our acquaintanbe whom we came across, appeared to be especially delighted at the moderate prices at which those articles were held. We found thit first rate butter could- be purchased for twenty cents, and even lower; eggs selling for 16016 o; 'and thickens 2.5@)800 per pair. New potatoes are just coming into market, and as yet sell high, $l,OO per peck. Peas are plenty at 15@200 per peck. We observed a few tomatoes, amongst the first of the season, bat they appear to be worth nearly their weight in silver-121c apiece; rather a high figure for economical folks. Cucumbers are also scarce and high, from 10 to 75c per dozen being asked. - Other vegetables, such as radishes, onions, cabbages, Sol can be had in profusion at-almost any price. Cherries, etrawberries, gooseberries, and other fruits of a superb quality, sell cheap ; the first named from - 6 3O12o.per,quart, the seoond at S to`6oe and the latter at B®4o. The farmers with whom •Ive - oonversed on the subject, all united in saying that the crop of early fruit this season was unu sually large, and unless the rain injured it, would be cheap as dirt after awhile. COITAT Or QUAIITER SEEISIO,NS.—The business In this Court, for the Juno term, has been near ly all transacted. The only oases remaining to be'disposed of are tippling house indictments, dtwhich an unusually large number is on the_ docket. Yesterday, Adam Baker, an insane man, was brought into Court on a charge of surety of the peace, for the purpose of having him sent to the Lunatic Asylum, bat as this could not be done until a commission of lunacy was called. he was taken back to prison again. John Erwine, alias Martin Dinwiddy, plead guilty to petit larceny, and was sentenced to three months in jail. A motion for a new trial In the case of Blank, Vi'eigly, el al., was over ruled. John Redman, convicted of the larceny of a quantity of bed clothes from Thomas Walsh, was sentenced to one month in the Peni tentiary. After which a number of tippling house keepers were fined the usual amount, when Court adjourned. DEDICATION OF TEE CATHEDRAL.—AretibiI!bOII Hughes, who 'sin assist at the Dedication of St .
