They have formed a “Ladies’ Hungarian Association!”— At their meetmg.ofreception, they “came dqwn with *8 cool thousand!” They are Ladies “ as are Ladies,” as Cap’n Ed’rd Cuttle would say-” We are under obligations to our. brother of the Telegraph for mentioning the fact of the contribution by the Ladles here so liandsoniely- The mere announcement,-from the manner in which he has made it, proves the editor to be a gentleman of great discrimination* and true gal lantry. Jggy* By a letter from a fneud, who is a mem ber of the company that recontly left this city •for California, via'New York, we are informed that the party expected to leave that city on the 3d instant, at 2 o’clock, P. The writer says:— “We would advise those who intend going to California, to authorize some person here to se cure their passage: as passages ore now taken for six weeks ahead. The city is thronged with persons going to California, and “the cry is still—they come." To my knowledge there are now nt least one thousand persons here, waitiug for a“ passage." This parly eousisted of John Clarke, James A. Keller, Robert A. Morrison, James Fitzpatrick, John Walker, Thomas Mc- Qee, Michael Henniben, James Scarborough, James Kearns, Hugh McKenna. Hugh McGrew, Dennis Dons, Jacob Wcxcl, LawTcnce Kim, John Cups, and John Casey. They leave many friends, who are warmly interested m their wel fofe. 6@“ Wo heard of a Very unpleasant circum stance yesterday evening. A message from the O’Beilly Telegraph office was sent to ft hrtn in Wood street, and the lad who took it not know ing one of the firm—-who was standing at the door—enquired for the junior-partner.. This so greatly-insulted the grand digmtary, that, after calling the : lad some very egiy names. - and ac cusing him with lying, he struck him a severe blow in the face. The lad'is very quiet and peaceable; and we do not believe would misbe have under any circumstances; ami therefore such conduct can only properly bo designated as unmanly in the extreme. The affair is to un dergo judicial investigation. ffgr* The Kossuth Executive Committee, met on Wednesday night, at Colonel Sahrs. and • unanimously— Resolved, That on, behalf of the Executive v Committee of the Friends of Hungary, wo tender our sincere thanks to Colonel Leopold Saiil for Ins liberality in allowing the various-Kossuth Committees a place of meeting m his Hotel, Jree of charge, and to him und his amiable lady, our grateful acknowledgments for their attention and hospitabty.
