The whole Whig ticket is elected, of course. There is ono thing in this matter, however, that astonishes ns. We find our cotemporary, D. N. Now, we have never found any thing smooth about our neighbor in politics, and it struck us with the utmost wonderment to find him reported as a 4.salooth bore." If he had ran as a crooked tore, he might have wiggled his way into the Council; but his course, heretofore, has been too sinuous to reach any position by a smooth bore course. This is, w e believe, the second time he has missed his aim for preferment. The next time he tries, we would advise him to get on a ." stubb and twist" ticket, and we think he will succeed. The other tickets all sold at premiums of from $l,OO to $5,00. About 400 seats, we believe, were sold last night, and the sale was adjourned over un til this evening at the same place. We are re• quested to say that those who did not obtain their tickets can get them by calling on Gen. Larimer, the treasurer, after 10 o'clock A. M., to day. From the spirit manifested at the sale last night, we presume all the seats will be taken be fore to-morrow, at a premium. KOSSUTH IN HARRISBURG. HAnntentran, Jan. 14. Gov. Kossuth and suite, accompanied by the Committe of Reception, arrived here at three o'clock this afternoon, by a special train, having been detained en route, by the breaking of a car wheel. He wns received by the Legislature and a large concourse of citizens. The party were conducted to sleighs, each drawn by four horses, and the procession was formed, composed entirety of individuals in sleighs. The line moved through the principal streets, and was finally brought up at Herr's Hotel, where the guests were quarter ed. After dinner the party proceeded to the State House. The greatest enthusiasm prevails. q 3 BOOND DBEIPATOIL A DIOST ISGRACEFIIL soicriE HARRISBURG, Jan. 10—P. M. About noon ladies began to fill the Hall of the House of Representatives, and long before the hour of meeting arrived, the seats of the mem bers were taken possession of by the crowd. Notwithstanding the precaution which had been taken by the Committee of Arrangements, the rotunda and entrance to the ball, presented a scene of the greatest confusion ; and was one of the most disgraceful scenes ever witnessed; rowdyism and riot reigned triumphant. The military were here sent for. The House met at four o'clock. The speaker repeatedly and distinctly called upon the House to come to order, but without effect. The crowd was appealed to by the Speaker of the Senate, who entreated them, in the name of the State, to clear the rotunda, and allow the Senators to enter the Hall. His entreaty was -ridiculid by the mob, who shouted and hooted in the most disgraceful manner; and all attempts to preserve order were in vain. Judge Gillis, in the midst of confusion, at tempted to address the chair. He had under stood that the Legislature of Pennsylvania was to receive the great Kossuth, but the seats of members were oconpied by strangers. He hoped Hossuth would not be received in a way to die grace the state, and moved that the Convention adjourn until . 10 o'clock to-morrow morning. Mr. Frayley, of Schuylkill, rose to reply, but his voice was drowned amidst shouts of the mob. The members rose to their feet; the speaker re quested that they would take their seats, when Judge Gillis said that if the Speaker would or der the officers to clear the house of the persons who occupied seats of members, he would take his seat. Mr. Frayley hoped that the Convention would not adjourn. • Mr. James said it was a burning disgrace that the Legislature of Pennsylvania should be in terrupted by noisy rabble. Judge Gillis insisted on his motion to adjourn. The Speaker put the motion to adjourn, but it was voted down almost unanimously, whether by members or strangers; it is impossible to tell. The negative was received with shouts and yells by the mob. Notwithstanding the allusion to the places of members being occupied, the occupants 9f seats, principally ladies, received the intimation with indifference, and made no move to vacate the seats. At ten minutes before eve, the National Guard of Harrisburg, under command of Capt. R. Garland, marched into the rotunda, and took possession of the doors. Many arrests were made. At 5 o'clock, the Governor and heads of De partinents were announced, and entered the Hall. The confusion in the rotunda was renewed, in the inidet - of which, the Sergeant announced the joint Committee of Senate and House of Rep• resentatives, who entered, escorting Gov. See. euth. The Chairman of the House Committe, intro duped Kossuth, who took a c seat beside Governor Johnston, on thoi,•Speaker's stand. The noise and, confasion here became so great that the ceremonies' of reception were suspended The speaker ordered the doors to be closed, which was found impossible to do, the mob having acquired the ascendency. Kossuth sat calmly looking on, not, feature of his face disturhed. The: military here entered, dad marched through the hall,, went out bad., and filed Pula. to the front of the Capitol, again entering the rotunda, with the intention of , clearing it.: The attempt was futile. John. ton commenced his welcome address to Kossuth, not a wordof which was heardin3yend the Clerk's weak -.- Mr. Webster is preparing a response to the recent letter of Chevalier Hulsemann, drawn forth by Mr. W.'s speech at the Kossuth Ban quet.
