They have felt some hesitation in calling the attention of 'the public to their lesuher, knovring that so many worthless patents had at various periods been brought to notice, that it would be almost =infallible to induce persons to buy, unless a string of certificates, equal In number to those of a new patent medicine, were appended to an advertisement. Relying entirely on the good qualities of tie leather to attract the attention of manufacturers and leather dealers, they have felt unwilling to resort to such means of procuring custom; but, as it has been asserted that the discovery was useless, and the leather worthless, they take this means of inviting the public to an examination of its meths. They will guarantee all their leather (calf-skins particularly) as equal to the very best manufactured in America, and confidently hope that they will rival the French. after a short experience has 'wen them more knowledge of the effect of their ingre dmnta CONCLLX & CO, octls:dity cor. 3d st. and Redoubt alley. Mutual mire Insurance Company, HARRIEIBURGII, PA. filrdesign of this Company is to afford the owners .W property safe and cheaplnsurance; its business being conducted strictly on the mutual principle, con s:jinn:l,g every member a stockholder, and entitling him to a share of the profits, and by the only equitable me thod in the system of mutual insurance—that of CLAS SIFYING ITS RlSKS—thus affording equal benefits to the insured. The Directors, accordingly, have divided their risks into two distinct classes, the charter provi ding that no part of the funds of either can be appropria ted tor the payment.of losses occurring in the other. The first Class is denominated the FARMERS' COM PANY, in whichinsurance may be made upon country dwellings, barns, out-buildings, and personal property, and nothing more hazardous is allowed to be taken. The Second Class istienominated the MERCHANTS' COMPANY,in which insurance may be made upon merchandize, and the safer kinds of property in towns and villages. The premium notes are only about oar sorra as large as those usually charged by other companies, and the rates low; but such as the Directors are confident will save them the necessity - of ever making an assessment. Not over $2,00 is atlrowedto be insured in one locality, and theepplicant is allowed the privilege of insuring ei ther with or without the liability of a premium note. The patronage which has been extended to this Com pany since its organization, having insured property to the amount of ONE AND A HALF MILL lON of dol lars during the LAST Min aiorres, shows that its mer its are day appreciated by the public. ANEW MINE OF MINERAL PAINT has recently bean discovered in the bill behind Manchester, Pa.; which, in the variety, richness and durability of its co lors, surpasses any which has yet been found. An es tablishment has been erected for its preparation by which our market is now supplied at a liberal price. 'flits article is almost entirely composed of the red and black orid of iron and alumina, which unite chemi. catty with oil or varnish, by which, when it becomes dry, a hard, solid. incombustible substance ) impervious to water, is produced. A coating of this on anything sons becomes dry, and forms a solid crust upon it which cannot be removed, and which effectually protects it from the influence of the air, heat and moisture. It is, therefore, a fire-proof and water-proof agent. There are five distinct colors of this rainy—all of which are kept separate, varying from a light yellow to a dark brown, so tbat purchasers may be supplied with any of the-a which they may desire or fancy. By mii. ins these colors a greater variety of them may be pro duced, all of which are permanent. In this way a beau taut stone color may be produced. The variety of its colors make this paint of great value. This Paint may be used for painting almost any work to which paint is applied, such as houses, brick or frame, fences, hurricane decks and chimneys of steamboats, roofs of houses, to protect them from fire and water, carting. of all kinds, such as iron railings, ate., ke. It is a good substitute for the Sienna earth, only it may be used for a greater variety of purposes and is much cheaper. Tins Paint Is in the form of an impalpable powder, and put up in barrels—though it can be purchased from the agents in any quantities. Painters are respectfirlly requested to give it a trial `old wholesale and retatl by the Agents. JOEL MOHLER, Druggist,. T. Woods & Son. TIIIS IS TO CERTIFY that sve used extensively the MANCHESTER MINERAL PAINT prepared by Messrs. Purinatt & Foan, and find that it answers admi rably all the purposes set in the above, and I can, therefore ' recommend it with confidence to the mem bers of the trade, as a cheap a. d valuable Paint, supe rior to any of the kind now in use. ao I :..Imw JAMES A.
