A girl named Ellen Blade, yesiding near Bel videre, in Boone county, on last Sunday went out to ride with Samuel L.- Reath, ,a merchant of that.city, Who had previous seduced her. After riding about the country for several hours,Keath tood the girl to his store and kept her locked up two days. On Wedneklay thi girl was removed to the house of Dr. Wciodward, and. an abortion was produced by him, which caused her death. Dr. W. then fled, but was.arrested on Saturday night. Keath.did not leave until the arrest of his accomplice; he then fled, and has not since been heard of. The Whig State Convention met yesterday at Bellow's Falls--EsHovernor Coolidge presiding. Chas. S. Williams was nominated for Governor, and Julius Converse for ',lent Gov., and Geo. Hawes, State Treasurer. Resolutions were adopted in favor of a tariff of specific duties—condemning slavery as a po litical evil, and opposing its extension, but giv ing 'cordial approval to the compromise measures of the last Congress.
