The Lancaster Exam 'i .er of the l.'nh inst., says : This morn ing the Pacific Express, west, which passes through this city at 2:35, met with a singular accident at the junction Lau disville. The Reading road crosses the Pennsylvania road at this point, and a train of empty coal cars were: standing across the latter track. About this time the Pacific Express came dashing along aud before the engiin-er had lime to check the speed of the locomotive it bad dashed through a coal car and was tear ing along at its r gular speed towards Harrisburg, with only the loss of the cow catcher. The engineer, seeing no harm had been done to any one, did not stop after he had safely "goue through' the debris This can be classed as a most miraculous escajte from what might have been a terrible disaster, but the speed at which the train was going was very swift. The wrecked car was struck amid wheels and broken completely into atoms, the splinters flying iu all direc tions, but luckily hitting no one. The shock was distinctly felt by the railroad emplovees who were sitting on the front and back ends of the coal train, but they either did not known the time at which the traiu was due, or else the watchman at the station displayed great ignorance in not haviug his flag lamps hung out.
