Each oeunty is entitled te lour Usaes as many delegates as there mem beaflK the lagiaiatura. TOmmualoaUen was read from 'J he Voice, tha Prohibition organ, offering te farnlah s canvasser te ralae funds In this oeualy fOthe coming campaign. The result eribJapulofwerkinanumMrot counties ta If aw Yerk state, showing lu great suc cess, was referred ta The terms et the canvasser are 125 per week and ei penses an d be gnrantees te collect twice aa much as his salary and expenses. The lund relied Is te be distributed In the following manner : TO per cent te be expended for lecturers, 10 per cent, te the state committee and 20 per cent for temperance literature, published by the Velet, The communication was referred te Messrs. Bichman, et Btrasburg, Brosius, of Bads bury and Leenard, city, te report en the ad visability of accepting the terms of the Voice. The committee reported that the plan was net feasible. A long discussion followed, the general sentiment being that If a canvasser Is te be appointed It should be a Lancaster county man. The report of the committee was received and adopted. The chairman reported that many of the members had neglected te furnish him with the list of Prohibitionists a nd temperance people, and he hoped they would attend te the matter before the county convention meets. With a complete list of the temper ance people In the county geed work can be done. Mr Leenard meed te go into the election of delegstes te the state convention, but the motion was ruled out of order, as the rules provide for a county convention te select them. Mr. Ilresius moved that the contention be held en August 8 at 10.30 o'clock, and Mr. Black moved te amend by naming the 15th of August Chairman Lsfever said a public meeting was contemplated en the evening of the con vention, and the court house could net be seemed for the 15th en account of quarter sea-ions court, but could be had for the eve ning et the 8th. Htite Secretary Hunter has agreed te speak en either of the above eve nings. The amendment eflered by Mr. Black wss adopted. The next resolution offered was as fellows : JieselvtJ, Thst the Prohibitionists of Lan caster county be requested, in accord with the rules of the party, te ssjemble, at such Jilsce as the member of the county committee or the several districts may designate, en Baturday, July SO, te elect delegates te the oeunty contention, te assemble en August 15, 1SS7. The rosolutien wss adopted at.er soma dis cussion. Berne of the members were opposed te holding a primary election, as the vote was tee small in several of the districts. Mr. Black referred te the dllllculty the temper ance men of the city would have in holding prlmsry Ift-tlitfTUin-rldden city. He felt ted however at the great work that baa been done by the Prohibitionists of the country. It looked very much as it the mc veiuent as marching onward, as Is Indi cated by the lecent convention in Ohie which was attended by 2,000 del egates. There are but six states in the Union in which prohibition or local option are net iu force. Pennsylvania Is one of them. Tbe sentiment la growing in the Beuth and at Fert Werth, Texas, en July 4 there were 30,000 persons at a Prohibition meeting and the rum-sellers are appealing te their friends In the North and Kast te aid them with funds te help them te defeat pro hibition. A motion te send an address te tbe tem perance voters of the county caused con siderable discussion. Mr. Black said that the Republican party in caucus favored submitting the prohibition amend ment, but that party is net in favor of prohibition. The party voted for submission because a respectable number of poeilo demanded It The Republican paity is new In favor et prohibition anil the Demo cratic party is squarely against it High license was favored by the Republicans, net as a temperance measure, but as a rev enue measure Mr. Leenard said the history el the Kepub llcan party was ene et policy at all times and net principle. Br. Martin also favored a vigorous address belutc sent te every temperance man. It would stir them up and de geed. He also referred te the course of the local pipers en the prohibition question, and liruily bellows J that the Xciv JCra would seen be a lull fledged Prohibition paper. Mr. Bichmau said ne wrote te the New Jirtt and asted the question whether high license lessening the number of licensed places was an advantage te prohibition and the answer he received was tUat any one knew that with a smaller number of licensed places there would be less crime and drunkenness. Bis own view was statistics did net bear out that answer, lie also made the statement that If it paid either et the dally papers In this city te be Prohibition papers they would change front at once and endorse the Pro hibition platform. The member from Brumere East Isald that some of the Prohibitionists in his township had been Induced te go back en their party by the preuite or township office. The chairman was directed te prepare an address, with the assistance of such persons as he desired te call te his aid. What an Old FUherman I tee le Catch Battels Full el ruh. 14 1 have discovered a sure bait for bass," aald an old fisherman te a Reading Jttrald reixjrter yesterday, " but tulud you, don't put this In the paper. It Is snakes' tails. Kverybedy has observed that the tall of a snake don't die until sundown, but keeps wriggling all day after the rest of the snake has climbed tbe golden stairs. New tau, above all llsh, want a lively bait The Idea struck meenedsy when I was fishing along Limerick dam. A Ircshly killed snake waa lying in the weeds along tbe tow path, while Its tall waa keeplug up a lively agitation. 1 took my knlle, cut the tail etl, put It en the book and threw out about 30 feet from the shorn. 1 no sooner tightened up my line than 1 had a vigorous bite, and In live seconds 1 waa pulling sway en a three-peunder. In half an hour I bad landed eight bass, averaging two peumls each. Tbe ninth one get away with the bait and my run ceaied. 1 tried ether bait but only get one fish In the next lour hours. 1 then started out te hunt snake I found one after an hour's search, cut etl his tall. and It lasted me for five bass, which 1 rulled In inside et twenty minutes : but had a fine basket lull and wis ready te quit Since then I bsve a couple of coun try boys In my employ who catch alive and bring te me all the snskes they see, aud 1 new bsve no trouble In getting all the bass 1 want every time I go tlsbinir. At first 1 killed tbe snakes and theu cut oil their tails, but then 1 made an Important discovery which will enable me te fish all sum mer with a deren snakes. I round that by cutting etl tbe tail while tbe snake was living and putting: a llttle cosmellne en the wound It net only healed, bnt that in about three weeks' time the snake would grew an entirely new tall Just as lively aa tbe old one. But, mind, don't put this In the paper. If you de, snakes will seen be as scarce around here as they are In Ireland, and by tbe time the season Is ever there w 111 bone bass lelt" A Scheel Fer Uej, An Industrial tcboel for boys Is proposed at Chicago by Mrs. Celts W.
