Jehn Fraukferd, the celebrated criminal he has been" visiting" in Chester county for tbe past few months, was handed ever te Prisenkccper Burkhelder,of this county ycteiday. That officer arrived in town last evening, at 5:20 with his prisoner who is new back in his old quarters occupying cell Ne. 7, which is an iron clad ene en the the ground Heer of the prison. The pris oner gave Mr. Uurkhelder no trou ble whatever en his return te this city, and seemed glad te get back te his old quarters. A reporter of ihis paper called en him te day r.d had a chat with him. He was attired in a new btiit of stripes which am very clean and neat. He did net go en the witness stand for this i casen and called no witnesses, no says he is glad that he is back again among people with whom he is acquainted and if he was a free man te day he would lead an honest and uptight life iu this city. He blames Charles Gib-en. his seu-in law, for many of his misdeeds aud claims that if it had net been for him he would net have gotten into the trouble for which he re ceived the lrng n-ntence iu this city. During the ti:r.e that he was out of prison he lived a greater part of his time iu Philadelphia, where he had three different jeb3 of we.lc, at which he was receiving gee I watjes, but he could net remain at it -s he was constantly stum bling ever inivie iu :em Lancaster whom he knew. The death of Count de Chambord has been expected for months. Early in the summer he was takeu dangerously ill, and although occasionally enjoying improved conditions, his demise was looked for before this. Count de Chambord was the last of the ancient line of the kings of France, and would, had he assumed the throne, reigned under the title of Henri Y. His sickness has all along caused much speculation and net a littl) disturbance in the governmental matters of France. It May it was thought that he would make the son of Den Carles heir te his claims te the French threne te the exclusion of the Orleans prince, and this created a bitter feeling between the various claimants te the throne. But a movement later en was begun te invest the Count de Paris, who new has the strongest claim te the throne, with the title t j it, aud this action was agreed te by the brilliant Paul de Cissag nac. The death of Count de Chambeid aids much in strengthening the republic, as Prince Plou Plen ami the numerous ether claimants of the throne are both weak-ami disrupted in their party follow ing. It was a bitterly cold October morning, rendered all the mere sharp by a cutting east wind, and as Raleigh ascended the scaffold and perpared te address the vast mob that thronged the palace yard his limbs, enfeebled by confinement and ill health, trembled se visibly that he could scarcely support himself. The sheriff, observing this debility, offered te help his ill fated charge down from the scaffold and take him te a fire, se that being warmed he might be the better able te de liver his dying speech. "Ne, geed Mr. Sheriff," said Raleigh, " let us dispatch, for within this quarter of an hour mine ague will come upon me, and if I be net dead befere then mine enemies will say that I quake for fear." Then, holding en by the rail of the scaffold, he faced the crowd and thus began: "Ithauk Ged heartily that He bath brought me into the fight te die, and that He hath net suffered me te die in the dark prison of the tower, where I have suffered a great deal of mis ery and cruel sickness ; and I thank Ged that my fever hath net taken me at the time, as I prayed te Ged it might net." After this prcface he proceeded te deal with tbe charges brought against him. He denied that he ever entered into any plot with France, though he admitted, te save his life, he had attempted te escape into France. He denied that he had ever been coun ceun selled by Lord Carcw, and ether lords te fly the country, or that he had ever offered Sir Lewis Stukeley money te assist him in escaping. " But, indeed," he acknowl edged, "I showed him a letter that if he would go with me theie should be order taken for his debts when he was gene ; neither had I 10,000 te give him, for if I had had se much I could have made my peace better with it in the ether ways than in giving it te Stukeley." He declared that his only object in start ing for Guiana was te discover the mine which really existed there. He denied that he ever intended te desert his men wheu at Trinidad, as had been alleged, or that he had been forced te return home by his men against his will. - Ner was it true that he had carried with him te sea numerous pieces, and that the only object of his voyage was te get money into his hands ; he had taken out but little money, aud such as he had taken out be had brought back. " These are the ma terial points," he concluded, " I thought geed te speakef, aud I am new at this in stant te render an ac emit te Ged ; and I pretest, as I shall aui.ear before Him, this that I have spoken is true, and I hepe I shall be believed."
