A Fanny Story Tluit Shenld be Taken With a Grain of nan. Tnriian(t Advertiser. Mr. BcottLeighten, the artist, formerly of Portland, tells a story concerning a pet game cock which he kept in his studio. Having at one time te paint the pt trait of a large sized game bird for a patron, the pet bird suffered a geed deal from the domineering spirit of bis larger companion and get se that be could never see him ;44,f flnintr intn a rape. After the picture was completed and the bird which was its subject had been removed the canvas remained in the studio, standing en the fleer. One day the little game cock happened te be picking his way about the studio when he suddenly caught sight of the counterfeit presentment of his former enemy. With a scream of rage he gave one leap and flying at the picture planted his spurs into It again and again before he could be restrained. The next tune he was given an opportunity he repeated the attack, and for some time it was the almost daily amusement of the artist anu his friends te witness these impromptu cock-fight? between a live bird and a dummy. At last one day,the little fellow, resting a moment from an uuusually spirited attack, happened in cocking his head te one side, te get a leek behind the picture. He was for a moment dumbfounded. Then he looked in front and saw his old enemy as large as life ; another glance behiud and hn ii mnrn than ever nuzzled. He then deliberately walked behind and around the picture several times carefully surveying it, and finally with a spiteful flirt and with an air of disgust that would have credit te a human being marched away and hid himself. Never after that day could he be persuaded te attack the picture or indeed te pay the slightest attention te if, notwithstanding the most strenuous efforts that were made te incite him. Tbe sequel te a Dream. Botten Glebe. "Oueofthe most remarkable occur rences I ever heard of was related te me this mdrning," remarked a State street broker yesterday. " I was told today by a leading city hall official, whose trust worthiness is undoubted, that a daughter of the late Harvey Jewell (who was se well and favorably known in Bosten in legal and business circles, and was a lirnther of the late Marshall Jewell) had recently a very queer and unusual experi ence, and one calculated te make a deep impression upon the strongest mind. Seme weeks age she had a dream in which she distinctly saw an undertaker drive up te her residence in a hearse. He was a peculiar looking man. His queerly shaped nose, which looked as if it had been breken and was twisted te one side. gave his ceuntenance an expression which would have made identification easy and certain. He came directly toward her, and, as he said, 'are you all ready?' she suddenly awoke. " The dream seemed a peculiar oue, but did net attract very mueh attention in the household until, a few days or a week later, it was repeated with exactly the same characteristics, down te the ' Are you all ready ?' and the awakening. " And new comes the strausrest pirt of the story. Some little time afterward the young lauy was visiting in uincinnau anu went te an apartment hotel te call upon a frieud. She stepped into the elevator with ethers, and waB startled te hear ' Are you ready?' from the man in charge. She was still mero startled en looking around and beholding the exact picture of the man of the dream, even the misshapen nose. It made such an impressinu upon her mind that she requested te be let out of the elevator at the first lauding. She stepped out, and the ether occupants went out at the next landing, and the man remained. The elevator machinery gave out ; suddenly the car went up and then down, ani the man was instantly kil'ed." m UROPS OF WATB.lt. Mr. JesEra G. Bicksell, Ne. G12 Main Street. The above words are irem Mr. Lkwis Kekn, Ne. 9 Highland Avenue, Madisen, Mass.,April US, 1S83. He says : "I Tiave heen troubled ler years with kidney and liver cemplalnt, lnl low ed by gravel, wllh sevcre pains In my back andcrelns. 1 had great trjuble in passing water, it being scanty, and accompanied by terrible burning, the vessel being coated with brick-dust deposit. 1 was recommended te use Hunt's ltetnedy by a trend win had been cempletelv cured of a similar trouble. 1 pur chased a bottle et the druggists, and com menced te improve at once. 1 have used but two bottles, and It has done wonders for mo no mere kidney trouble, no mere pain.
