Plenty of ttoeva for All comers. Germantown Telegraph . Undoubtedly the caltivatien of the soil and the raising of flecks and herds may always be depended upon te furnish a Hvintr. and there is. therefore, no very great risk in the enterprise. In view of tne overciewueu conuinea 01 an uuier jmi suits this one may be safely relied en as an unfailing resource at all times. Few regions have been mere rapidly settled than have been Illinois. Missouri, Kansas and Iowa, with farmers and stock raisers since 1860. Hen ce. the westward migra tery movement new again going en will again prodnce general activity. Fer this emigration will put a large amount of money in active circulation, cause a large increase in railroad travel and freights, relieve the everburthened labor markets of the seaboard, and create new markets for capital and merchandise. The condi tions are much mere favorable te agricul tural emigrants new than formerly, because the railroad charges have been se adjusted that produce can be profitably shipped or sold at the most remote and isolated points. Land is everywhere cheap and accessible, and railroads traverse immense regions. Our country is se boundless that te talk of the public domain being all gobbled up, as de some pretentious writers, is the height of felly. There is wild land in all the states in such quantities that no ene need want farm tracts in vain. And al though the cry " go West " has leug since grown stale and hackneyed, the West still remains a boundless wilderness an immonse ocean in which the settle ments resemble the Pacific islands. Maine, New Jersey and West Virginia alene would accommedato all the emigration ler the next five years. Pennsylvania has been for fifty years a coaseless fountain (if emigration, and yet is herself admirably adapted te recoive millions of new settlers. But whether emigration tends East or West, only let it keep out of the cities. There is net ene in twenty who come hither who have the means te what we call " settle." They are either laborers or mechanics ; but instead of making their homes in the new lands and grew up with the country, they drop into the cities wheie they earn a very precarious living, aud seen fall into the habits of idleness and drinking, and never make any head way. If they were te spread abroad even throughout the Middle states they would find abundant employment upon the farms. We venture te say te-day among farmers alone in these states a half million of farm hands could find plenty of weik at much higher wages and witu much better living thau they ever received at home. Knallage Again. In regard te ensilage once mere, theie are beginning te be some distinct mutter- ings in opposition te its value, anrt these are-being urst beard in the JNew England states where this mode el presciviug cattle feed was urst introduced. In ene silo it is stated that the ensilage was " entirely spoiled, meuldy and rotten." This silo was constructed with great care ; the feri der was cut with a $150 niachine, and was pressed down with jackscrews, &c. On in quiry of the feremau of another farm he said that ha did net feed heavily with ensilage, as fault was found with the milk as being " tee thm " This man thought the "life of the ensilage was in the grain and cotton seed fed in connection with it; that if a cow was fed en ensilage alone, without any grain whatever, she would seen be ruined. If he had his own way he would net aaiu rill the silos. De also found the cost of ensilage a great objection." We notice several ether unfavorable opinions. One farmer said he found that the less ensilage he fed and tfie mera bran aud corn meal, the better his cattle fared ! Of cour.e u must be expected te have diverse opinions and reports en all questions se intimately touching the inteiests of this great, in dnstry. Still, we stick te our original assertions in regard te this mode of pre serving green provender for cattle, te Jet these with long purses de the experiment ing, and let ethers adept or reject accord ing te what the general result may be. We had grave doubts of it being settled ou as a discovery of much value and a per manent feat tire in stock-feeding ; but from tbe earnestness with which it was taken held of, recommended, defended, aud figured into great prominence, there was nothing for us te de but te watch the ex periment, criticise the statements, and revise the statistics as much as possible witb tbe view of ascertaining as nearly as circumstances permit .the actual weith of ensilage as a leading iuteger in its rela tien te the farming interests of the ceuu try.
