The state beard of health bill was amended se as te give the 'governor, the power te appoint as members of it physicians from allopathic and homcepathie schools and laid ever for third reading. The bill providing for the distribution of unclaimed bodies for dis secting purposes was among a number which passed second reading. Tne Houae Proceeding. In the Heuse the following were among the bills faveably reported : Fixing the license fee of bottlers of malt liquors at fifty dollars ; exempting building and lean associations from taxation ; fixing the license fee of livery and exchange stables at twenty-five dollars and providing for the punishment of persons who injure the property of livery men ; requir ing goods manufactured by convicts te be branded. Mr. Landis offered a resolution which was laid ever, that the bill te pro pre vent political parties, or their agents, from paying poll tax, be placed en the calendar, it having been negatived in com mittee The bill te print ten thousand copies of Smull's hand book, for use of the legislators, was defeated yeas G3, nays 75. A message was received from the governor vetoing the Lackawanna county peer director act, en the ground that it prepared special legislation under the guise of a general bill. Beth Houses ad journed until Monday evening. Legislative Measures Introduced. A bill was introduced into the Heuso te-day repealing a former act which pre vides that the costs te prothenotaries and sheriffs in cities of the second class shall net be paid until the claim of the city and costs shall be realized out of the real es tate as bought in and held for use of the city. Among the bills introduced in the Senate was ene te prevent miners fro quenting billiard halls. Washington, Fb. 24. The Senate after transacting sonic important reutine business, at 10:40 ,went into executive session, aud when tha doers rn opened took up the legislative appropriation bill. Kills Passed In the Heuse. The first hour in the Heuso te-day was occupied in calling np bills for passage under the pound rule. Among the bills passed was ' one te prevent the im perta tien of adulterated tea. Several bills called up were objected te under the rule, and were net considered at the expiration of the hour. The con sideration of the sundry civil appropria tion bill was proceeded with. The amend ment granting $5,000 each te heirs of the late Representatives Herren, of Louisiana, and Updegraff, of Ohie, was strieken out and the bill then passed.
