LANCASTER BAILT'INTELLIGENOER SATURDAY MAY 27, 1882. T UNCONVICTS !TILL AT LAitGC. Uurklitil'lcrV I'nsuccESElul Scirtl: Alter Thrui. Nine of the ten convicts w he escaped flora the Lancaster county prison en Wed. ncsday, are still at laige. Yesterday at 11 o'clock Prison Keeper Hurkbelder and Offi ccr Gill diove down te the lower end of the county in search of them, it appearing that at least five of them had been seen in that fcectien. They drove iirst te Pcquca vallev, making caicful inquiries as they went along. Hearing that a patty of thiee .suspicious looking characters had been seen at Itawliu.sville they drove ever te that place, where they learned that the huppesed convicts iiaa siepi in an open hchoel house a few miles off en Wednes day night, and en Thuihday had viMtcd Itavvliusvillc and made home piu chases at the .stoic. They learned tl at two men diessed some what like piisencrs had slept in Jes. Mar tin's b.irn Thursday night and wcic seen by Mr. .Ai ai tin in tlie meiniug. They a: e believed te have been the Bit..aids. They also Ie.ti nod that a hoi. se harness anil new wagon belonging te Win. SATURDAY: It is a singularly geed time te buy ladies' summer dress. Per haps we never had se many things below value as new; neither se geed, nor se many, nor se much below. Te judge by these incidents, one would think we were in the midst of a finan cial panic. The most seasonable and fashionable dress-goods at half te three-quarters! And yet there is no panic. American blackgres-grain silk at Se cents a yard ; and a very geed silk it is. The maker can't make it for the money ; and se we can't sell it for the money, except new and then. Next-euter circle, southeast Iren: centre. Melange dress-goods are mot tled colors. French melanges are of fine wool, and of se nearly plain color that they have a one color effect ; but when looked at closely they betray a geed many colors sometimes, coarsely mot met ted, net mixed. ""' Nothing is mere sought for this season than French me langes. And yet we have a whole stock of them at two-thirds value; as many as fifty color-effects ; five qualities, and five prices, 40, 45, 50, 65 and 75 cents ; 42 inches wide. These have stepped the sale of all the ether fine me langes we have. Third circle, southeast lrein centre. The finest embroideries for dresses we ever heard of are these in black grenadine, byzan tine and cashmere, lately come from Paris. We have ethers less fine, of course. Next-outer circle, southwest from centre Black plaid organdies, 37 cents; variety of plaids. Every body knows hew they leek. Plain all-silk grenadines at $1.25 that we have sold large quantities of for three years at $2. That's better than saying they are worth $2. They areas geed as ever. Next-euter circle, southwest from centre. Cardinal dots and figures en navy-blue nun's veiling and serge make one of the prettiest and richest garnitures te be seen new. It is combined with plain navy-blue. A little below value ; but perhaps net enough te men tion. Third circle, southeast Irem centre. Had we better mention 35 cent flannel at 25 cents again? De you care about saving 10 cents a yard ? Half the colors are gene out of 1 8,000 yards. Outer circle, northeast from centre. Silk-and-wool pongees for dresses and dusters ; two quali ties differing in appearance also; 371 and 45 cents. Third circle, Thirteenth-3tieet entrance. Sateens continue splendid be yond telling-. Wonderful ! and- they are mere wonderful te see, hundreds of them together, than you can believe, without seeing. 50 cents a yard, most of them ; some higher. Other French printed cottons are apt te get slighted. They are only less bright; and cost 25 cents up. Fourth circle, Thirteenth btrcet entrance. Chatelaine watches ; forty dif ferent, and net an' unhandsome one among them ; tee pretty al together te be carried in such a risky way. $7 te $90. Seme with cards, memorandum book and pencil. Don't like te say they are pretty. Next-outer circle, City-hall-square entrance. Dent's best gentlemen's kid gloves, plain and embroidered, at $1.50; all light colors, and none larger than 8. The reason for the price is in color and size. Middle Market-street entrance. Mattings and carpets; both very brisk ; because the advan tage we afford in them is con siderable.
