Tiadc Active Buyers Busy Geed Leaf Get ting Scarce Seme Recent Sales and Deliveries. Ttiete was mere activity in the local tobacco market during the past week than there had been previously for a month or two. A .cere or mere of buyers have been scouring the county and picking up alf the desirable lets they could lay their hands et, and paying pretty geed prices, tee. It is new au open secret that geed leaf is getting scarce in the hands of growers, and that buyers who held back in hopes of a decline in prices have been dis appointed and are willing te pay te-day prices at which they poeh-poohed earlier m the reason. While a few of the "early birds," who bought the crops as they grew en the field in September last, have been bitten here and there, a majority of them are well satisfied with their ventures, white these who bought in January and paid us high as 25 and 30 cents for line wrappers, beast that their purchases are much cheaper than these new being gath ered in :itl2 abd 15 cents. A few weeks were of aetive trade will suffice te clean up that part of the crop of 1SS1 remaining, in the hands of growers. The last week has been a very active one in leaf in the southern part of this county, and large quantities have been purchased. Hostetter, of Lancaster, and Skiles & Frey, have been the heaviest buyers. Whilst much of the tobacco has been low grades, prices have been fair. James Linten sold te Skiles & Frey 2 acres at 10, 7 3 ; Adam Keen sold 3 acres te Hostetter, 9, 5, 2, hail cut ; G. Bair, 1 acre, also badly cut, for 0 through te same, Samuel M. Keen sold te Greff & Musselman, 2 acres, 20, 10, 6, 3. Ames Walten, of. Drumore, sold 3 acres te Fatman, 21, 10, G, 3 ; Wm. J. Hess, Fulton, sold 3 acres te Hostetter, 14, 8, 5, 3. Most of the f ales have been en private terms, but are said te be satisfac tory. There were leaded at Quarryville en Saturday three full car leads, and every day last week mere or less was shipped. Tobacco has been a paying freight en that read this season. Our Bird-in-Hand correspondent fur nishes the following from that neighbor hood : Mr. J. B. Newhauser, lumber merchant, has sold his crop of tobacco 1 J acres, te Stephen Herr at 21, 8, 5, 3. Mr. Oliver D. Simmons sold te Sigel & Merrin2 acres at 12, 5, 3. Martin 31. Thus far the spring has been se back ward that-farmers hare done very little' in preparing for the crop of 1882. Seme of them who sewed their seedbeds early have had their sprouting plants nipped by the late frosts. There is time enough, however, te begin de novo, and secure all theplants that may be needed. We hare been shown' several " hands" of tobacco delivered te E. Heffman & Sen, by a Paradise grower, that are certainly a little out of the common ran. Each hand consists of tiny leaves, three or fenr inches leDg, tied up in the usual way, and placed among the wrappers ! Messrs. Heffman are at a less te knew whether the tiny hands were tied up by the children who were attempting te imitate the work of their elders, or were placed where they were found for the purpose of getting a high price for trash. There were several pounds of them. A geed Baptist clergyman of Bergen, X. 1., strong temperance man, suffered with kid- a fltrnnir temnerance ney trouble, neuralgia, and dizziness almost te blindness, ever two years after he was told that Hep Bitters would cure him, because he was afraid of and prejudiced against "Bit ters." -8lncc his cure he says none need fear but trust in Hep Sitter. ml5-2 wdw Second Edition et Jeb. The following article was voluntarily sent te Mr. II. E. Slaymaker, Agent for Reigart's Old Wine Stere, by a prominent practising physi cian et this county, who lias extensively used the Brandy referred te in his regular practice. It is commended te the attention of these af flicted with Indigestion and Dyspepsia. BRANDY AS A MEDICINE. This new much abused Alcoholic Stimulant was never intended as a beverage, but te be ueed us a medicine of great potency in t lie euro of some of the destructive diseases which sweep away their annual thousands of victims. With a purely philanthropic motive we pr sent te the fareiable netiee et invalids eape chilly these afflicted with that miserable dis ease Dyspepsia, a specific remedy; which is nothing mere or less than Brandy. The aged, with feeble appetite, and mere or less debility, will flnu this simple mudlciac, when used properly, A Sovereign Remedy or all their ills and aches. Be It, however strictly understood that we prescribe and use but one article, and that Is HEIGART'S OLD BRANDY, fold by our enterprising young friend, II E SLAYMAKER. Tills Brandy has steed the test for years, and has never failed, as tax as our experience extends, and we therefore give it the preference ever all otepr Brandies no matt er with hew many Jaw-breaking French titles they are branded. One-fourth et the money that is yearly thrown away en various impotent dyspepsia' specifics would suffice tc buy all the Brandy te cure any such case ei ases. In proof of the curative powers et Reigart's Old Brandy, in cases et Dyspepsia, we can summon num bers of witnesses one case in particular we cite: A hard-working farmer had been amictea with an exhaustive Dyspepsia ter a number of years; his stomach would reject almost every Kinu ui iuuu; no uuu suur uruciauens con- stantly no appetite restrict his diet te I In fact, he was obi Iced te restrict his diet te crackers and stale bread, and as a beverage he used McGrann's Reet Beer. He Is a Methodist, and then, as new preached at times, reached at times, and in his discourses often leclaimed earnestly against all kinds of strong Irink. When advised te trv a drink. Rebrart's Old Brandy, In his case, he looked up with astonishment but after hearing et its wonderful eflects in the ceses of some of bis near acquaintances, he at last consented te fellow our advice. He used the Brandy faithfully and steadily ; the first bottle giving him an appetite, and before the second was taken he was a sound man.with a stomach capable of digesting anything which hejehese te eat. He still keeps it and uses a lit tle occasionally ; and since lie has this medl cine he has been of very little pecuniary bene fit te the doctor. A Practisihe PhtSIcu h. U. .
