Her death will be keenly felt by a large circle of relatives and friends. Thieves breke into the office of Jes. C. Walker & Sen last Monday night, and made an attempt te open the safes. With a chisel, which they stele from the P. It. R. tool house, they broke and battered the safes considerably, but failed te get them open. The same night they attempted te enter Fred. Snepfs restaurant by prying a deer partly open, but failed te gain en trance. There will be a great many here about the first of April. changes A I'leasant Surprise. On Wednesday of last week, a large company of the friends aud neighbors as sembled at the house of Mr. Henry Eshle man, of Drumore, te celebrate the birth day of tbeir eldest son, B. F. Eshleinan, who has been married but a short time. The young couple were away when the company arrived, and were greatly sur prised en their return te be greeted by such a host of friends. The company was seen seated te a sump tuous dinner prepared by the ladies. The young couple were presented with many handsome and useful presents, including a handsome Bible, which was presented te the croem by his father. After a plea sant day passed at the hospitable house of Mr. Esbelman all returned te their homes wishing the young couple a long and happy wedded life. A HEW STORE. The Dltlslen or nn Old KstabMdictl Uusl- ness. Weekly Intelligencer. Between Lancaster aud the Maryland line thcre is no business place better es tablished or mere widely known than " Hcnsel's store," in the "flourishing vil lage of Quarryvilie, the terminus of the raihead irem this city south. Fer nearly forty-five years, man and boy, the senior partner of the late firm of -Geerge W. llensel & Sen, has been en gaged in the general mercantile business at this place, and his business had grown with the growth and developed with the development of the " lower end " in which Quarryvilie is new the leading business point. After this long service in the details of mercantile life Mr. llensel has wisely concluded te retire from active engagement therein, and an advertisement in the Weekly Intelligencer notes the division of his extensive business. The gen eral mercantile business will be continued at the old stand by his son-in-law and late partner, Mr. G. J. P. Itaub, a very popu lar and successful young merchant, who, with an enterprise that is as 'marked as the success of it is already nssuied, has taken up the " new departure," of in augurating a " strictly cash" business. Such a movement is one that is calculated te accomplish many benefits for a commu nity that has suiiered much from an abuse of the credit system, aud the patrons of the new business will find their profit in the gi catty reduced prices at which they will be enabled te buy goedsunderthe new system. The hardware branch of the business is assumed by Chas. C. llensel, a younger son of Gee. W. Hensel, who has had several years experience in the mer cantile trade, and has handsomely fitted up a new store, which is stocked with the extensive variety of goods in this line that are elsewhere advertised. Tile need of such a special business and of the variety of stock it will afford te carry, had long been felt in the lower cud, where the rapid improvement of the country has created a demand for building mate rial aud ether supplies that Mr. Hensel's enterprise will afford his patrons opportu nities te precuic at competing prices with city stores.
