LANCASTER DAILY INTELLIGENCER TUESDAY. FEBRUARY 28, 1882. 1 Lancaster I-nteiUgcncet. TUESDAY;EVEN1N0. FEB. 28, 1882. KING HENRY' HOST. King Henry fctoed in Waltham Weel, One morn in merry May-time ; Years fltteen hundred thirty-six. Frem Christ, had rolled away time. King Henry steed In Waltham Weed, All young green, sunny -shady; He would net mount his pawing heiae. Though men and dogs were ready. 'What all? his Highness v Up and down In moody sort he paceth ; He is net went te be se slack. Whatever game he chaseth." He paced and stepp'd, he paced und tuin'.l; At times he inly muttered ; He pull'd his girdle, twltch'd hi heard, Hut net a word he uttered. The hounds lit couples nosed about. Or en the sward lay idle ; The huntsman stele a fearlul glance, While lingering girth or hi idle. Among themselves, but net tee loud, The young lords laughed and chattel M Or broke a branch et hawthorn-bloom, As though it nothing mattcr'd. King Henry sat en a fcll'd oak, With gloomier eyes and stranger : His brews were knit, his lips he bit Te leek that way was danger. Mused he en Tope und Emperor r Denied them and delled them t O. traitors in his very realm ComplettlngV wee betide them ' Suddenly en the southern breeze. Distinct though distant, sounded A cannon-shot, and te his leet The King et England bounded. " My Iieivj," he shouts, uncouple new !" Ami all were quickly mounted, A hind wusleund; man, horse, and hound Kike furious demons hunted. Fast tied the deer by grove and gld.lf The chase did laster fellow ; And every wild weed alley rang Willi huutei's horn and helle. Away together slrc.im'd the hounds ; Forward prcss'd every rider. You're Irce te slay a hind in May, It tlieie's no lawn beside her. King Henry lode a mighty horse, His Gr.it-u being breud and heavy. And like a stormy wind lie crash'd Through -op,e und thicket leavy. He lode hard, and ieai'd se loud. All men his course avoided ; The llury steed long held en tret. With many a short enjoyed it. Intelligencer : The bills of Danny Shitter and Charles Wolfe were al lowed, "as usual," the former by two county commissioners and the latter by the supreme court. These were two jjiea't victories in oue day aamst all ptetest ; yet I think it was very much like barking at the wolf ami lettinir the fox take the chickens. Seme people can be liberal with etheis' money, te gain a bubble rep utation with county for costs ; but Com missioner lliklebrand is net oue of these who pay out the county money, without some satisfaction that it is first right te de se ; hence, we find him signing the war rants for the payment of the physicians, who made pest-mortem examinations, but withholding his signature te "Honest Danny's " bills although there was no attachment lilcd against them. We arc told that the commissioners were satis lied that Danny had paia the jurors be fore they approved his bills. Mr. Hil Hil Uebraut does net appear te be se well satislicd, and 1 believe he is one of the county commissioners. There is a standing resolution en the min utes of the commissioners, which was pub lished in all the daily papers, te the effect that, in (r.tuie, all bills piesentcd by the coroner should lie ever until the Monday ene week from the time of presentation, before being paid. Why these presented last Monday were railroaded through, in opposition te this reselve. I am at a less te unaei stand. uut these commissioners were "satisfied the jurors had been paid " The former commissioners were net as easily satisfied, and appealed from the award of arbitrators in favor of Isaac Mishit- en a claim for $12.37. At the sec ond trial the first having been in favor of defendant Mr. Mishlcr admitted en the witness staud, that, accetdiug te acus. tern, he had paid most of the jurors but 50 coats en the dellir and treated then', whilst iu some instances the jurors took nothing at all. The court decided that there could be no recovery ler what had net been paid out (although the jurors may return their verdict, "that we find that Wni. Bunnick came te his death through dying and we have been paid our fees"). If the county commissioners con. tinue te pay these fees without regarding my pretests, I must take it like the Wolfe protesters and abide my time. F. Kn.BuitN. A Heavy Fallure. David F. Ceele, a farmer and stock raiser of Celd Water, Mich., has failed under circumstances that have led te his arrest. His liabilities are 17,000 and his assets $10,000.
