Washington, Jan. 14. Gniteau, in his customary opening speech, announced that he wanted no mere worthless checks sent him. Judge Cox announced that he would net permit Guitcau te make his proposed speech te the jury. The prisoner protest ed that he appeared as his own counsel and claimed the right as an American citizau te be heard, but Jud;.c Cox could net be moved. Guitcau took an exception te tha judge's ruling and said the Litter's name would go down te future ages with a stain upon it. Following are the figures reported by the judge3 of the Reading railroad election te the master this morning ; Gewen ticket 270,934, Bend 222,017. Bradford, for treasurer, received the whole number of votes cast. The only variance in the vote was that of 100 mere for Parrish of the Bend ticket, and 100 less for Coxe of the Gewen ticket. Upen the announcement of the vete the meeting adjourned sine die. Counsel then proceeded te the common pleas ceutt where the master reported the result te the bench, occupied by the presi dent judge and two asseciate judges. By agreement of both sides the court made an order awardiug te President Gewen and his associates the offices te which the re turns showed them te have been elected, and congratulated both sides that se peaceful and satisfactory an ending had been t cached in te important a contest. They had aided the company through all its adversity and it was their desire new that the litigation should be tci minuted as speedily as possible. MrsJ. E. Gewen said that the conduct of Mr. Buelitt and his associates had been considerate and manly, and Judge Allisen in a few weids expressed a similar opinion, concluding with the remark that the action of the miuerity party was as credit able le themselves as it was gratifying te the court.
