Chailes Edw.uds. the father, being afliiincd, made a statement of the ciicum st mces altendi'ig the ioble:y, substantially as repeitcd in Eiiday's Ivri'LLir.CNt'i'.ii. He knew nothing connecting Geerge with the buiglaiy, except that he had made eeitaiii threats, after his mother's death, and insisted en seaiching the house for his mother's will. Mary S. Mann, a little gill in the employ of Chailes Edwasds testified that Geerge showed her a key and told her it would un lock the desk in Mr. Edwaids's store. Mis. Geeige .A. Askew testified that Gcei go. showed her a key, and the little girl told her that Geerge said it would unlock the desk. Geerge told Mrs. Askew that he was sure his mother made a will, and insisted en making a seaich for it ; but that she had persuaded him net te de se, saying that his father would make it all right with him. Uebcit Paulding testified that Geerge requested him te go up into the third story el his father's house te examine an old bureau, where he thought might be found some papers or money belonging te his mother Nene of the witnesses knew anything te connect Geerge with the burglary. Fer the dulensc Walter Gast aud Win. "lSrccht wercswoie. They arc two boys who went en the exclusion te Philadelphia Thursday mei mug ; called upon Georire Edwaidsat his residence. Ne. 7G2 Seuth Fifth stieet, and slept in the same room with him Thuisday night, (the night of the burglary.) They saw him as late as 11 o'clock Thuisday night and as early as 5 o'clock Friday morning. They are posi tive that he was net only- in Philadelphia, but in his own beaiding house all Thursday night. At this stage of the case Dirtrict Attor ney Davis, who represented Charles Ed waids, the complainant, abandoned the case aud Aldcimau Spurrier promptly dis missed the ease and discharged Geerge Edwaids. Geerge Edwaids is a printer, learned his trade in the Examiner office, this city, and has been ler some time past working en the Public Lciher, Philadelphia. He believes his mother made a will before she died aud that his father destroyed ir, for tlie pnrpose of getting hoV-er hcrpiepeity, and thinks that the rc2ut complaints made against him by his father have been brought with a view of having him locked up or scared off, se that the old man can turn Mis. Edwards's prepeity into cash and return te England. Geerge was at weik at case at the Ledger office when he was arrested yesterday, and as he was net given time te get a " sub " before 'caviug for Lancas ter he fears he may lese his situation. It is certainly a sad anil almost an un natural ciicumstaucc te find a father ac cuse his son of se serious a crime without apaitic'.e of evidence te sabUantiate the charge. Finger Coushed.
