LANCASTER DAILY INTELLIGENCER, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 22, 1881. Lancaster intelligencer. WEDNESDAY BVEN'O, JUNE 22, 1681. Tke Sew Trespass Lair. Germantown Telegraph. The following act passed the Legisla ture en the 6th inst., in regard te tres passing upon farms, gardens, &c., and being signed by the governor is new a law. It supersedes ether imperfect laws upon the subject. It will doubtless meet the approval el every owner of property and every geed citizen, whether he is a property-holder or net. And new that its previsions are in full accord with public sentiment, we recommend every person suffering from trespassers, which is one of the greatest nuisances and evils te which property-owners are subjected, te execute the laws against all who wilfully trespass upon their premises for improper pur poses. The following are the previsions : Section 1. That any person or persons who shall wilfully enter or break down, through or ever any field, orchard, garden or yard fence, het-bed or greenhouse, or who shall wrongfully club, stone, cut, break, bark or otherwise mutilate or dam age any field, crop, nut, fruit or ornamen tal tree, shrub, bush, plant or vine trellis, arbor, het-bed, het or greenhouse, or who shall trample or in anywise injure any grain, grass, vines, vegetables, or ether growing crop, or who shall wilfully take or carry away any grain, corn, rye, wheat, or ether field crop, fruit, vegetables, plants, fruit or ornamental trees, vines or shrubs, whether the same no actacnea te the soil or net, shall subject said person or persons te a penalty of net less than five nor mere than fifty dollars for each and every efleucc. Sec. 2. Anv mstice of the peace or alderman, upon information or complaint made te him by the affidavit of one or mere pers'VJ of the violatieu of said act by any person or persons, shall issue his warrant, directed te any constable or police officer, te cause such person or persons te be ar rested aud brought before said justice or alderman, who shall hear and determine the guilt or innocence of such person or persons se charged, aud if convicted of said offence or offences shall be senteneed te pay the said penalty aforesaid attached te said violations, with costs, ene-half te go te the party or parties injured te pay for damages sustained, and the remain ing one half te the school fund of the dis trict in which said elTcnc) was committed. Preriled, That the defendant or defen dants en refusing te pay at ence said penalty, shall be committed te the com mon jail of the said ceuuty for a period of net less than one day for each dollar of penalty imposed, uulcss the defendant or defendants enter into a recognizance with jjoeil sccuiity te answer said complaint en a charge of misdemeanor bofero the quar ter sessions of the poace of the county in which the offence is committed, which court, en conviction of the offence se charged aud failure te pay the penalty im posed by this act with costs, shall commit said defendant or defendants te the com mon j.iil of the county for a period net less tliiin one day for each dollar of penalty imposed. Skc. '!. All acts or parts of acts here tofore passed and inconsistent herewith are heieby repealed. This is plain and te the point, aud is precisely what has long been needed. Farmers, gardeners, nurserymen and owners of property generally, have never had that protection in the security aud en joyment of their property that they had a just right te demand, and which has al ways been conceded te and provided for the owners of ether property. Recuperating Old Orchards. Several modes are recommended hew this cau be successfully done ; hut we de net sce hew it can be mere effectually doue than by the one wc have frequently re commended. This is te cut out all the dying weed, aud three-fourths of the suck ers, scrape the trunks of the trees com pletely, teineviug all the old, hard, broken baik ; wash with a preparation of whale whalo whale eil soap and water, a pound of the soap te a bucket of water ; and give the orchard, net merely under the trees, but every part of it, a heavy top-dressing of geed barn yard or compost manure. If there is any life or productiveness in the trees this will bring it out. The suggestion that the trunks of the trees should be shorn of all the boughs and allowed te sucker, and seme of these when large enough grafted, will preve a failure. The grafting of the ordinary sucker growing from the trunks of old trees can rarely be done with success. We tiied this several times aud the grafts all died at the end of the second or third year. Far better te graft the old trees whenever there is any smooth-barked weed near enough te a main bough. They will will net only grew, but in most cases fruit the second year and always the third year. Wc have new growing en suckers from the main bough grafts of the Chan cellor pear set mere than thirty years age, and these that have net died have yet te fiuit the first specimen ! Sheep Barking Fruit Trees. Gcrmautewn Telegraph. Under certain circumstances sheep will gnaw the hark of young fruit trees, and net uiiuviiii'Hilly destroy them, and al ways injure them, sometimes te a serious extent This action en the part of . sheep is induced from thirst, for although sheep require very little water, and seldom drink any when the pasture is wet, yet when this is net the case they require water, as de ether animals. Te prevent thorn from distuibing the trees, it is found that a wash, made after the following directions, will preve an efficient remedy : Dissolve a pound of whale-oil soap in six gallons of water, and into this stir a quantity of sheep manure until about the consistency of common whitewash, aud apply this te the trees for seme four or live feet from the ground. Sheep will net even rub themselves against trees thus treated, much less gnaw them. The wash must be repeated every six te eight weeks, es pecially if there is much rain te carry it off. Besides protecting the trees, there is nothing better te drive away injurious in sects, smooth the bark and fertilize the soil aieund the trunk. Doctors Gave Bliu TJp. This new much abused Alcoholic Stimulant was never intended as a beverage, but te In: Hhcd as a medicine of great potency in the cure of some of the destructive diseases which sweep away their annual thousands of victims. The aged, with fccble appetite and mere or less debility, will find this simple medicine, when used properly, A Sovereign Remedy or all their ills and aches. Ite it, hewevei strietly understood that we prescribe and use but ene article, anil that is REIGARTS OLD BRANDY, Sold by our enterprising young friend, II E. SLAYMAKER. This Brandy has steed the test for years, and has never failed, as far as our experience extends, and wu there feic give it the preference ever all ether Brandies nematler with hew many juw-bi-cuking French titles they ure branded. One-fourth of the money that is yearly thrown away en various Impotent dyspepsia specifics would sutllce te buy all the Brandy te cure any such case or uses. In proof of the curative powers et Reigart's Old Brandy, In cases et Dyspepsia, we can summon mini bers of witnesses one case in particular we cite: A hard-working farmer had been untie ted with an exhaustive Dyspepsia for a number et years; his stomach would reject almost every kind of feed; he had sour eructatiens con stantly no uppetltc In fact, he was obliged te restrict his diet te crackers and stale bread, and as a beverage he used Met, rami's Reet Beer. lie is a Methodist, and then, as new, S reached at times, and in his discourses often eclitiuied earnestly against all klndsef strong drin k. When advised te try Reigart's Old Brandy, In his case, he looked up with ostenlsnuient, but after hearing et Its wendertul etlects In the cases of some of his near acquaintances, he at last consented te fellow our advice. He used the Brandy faithfully undstcadllv; the first bottle giving him an appetite, und before the second was taken he was a sound inau.with a stomach capable of digesting anything which neciiose u cm. lie sun Keeps it anil uses u lit tle occasionally; und since lie has this medi cine lie has been of very little pecuniary liene fit te the doctor.
