William Fraim, a former resident of Co lumbia, but new living at Marietta, was struck cm the aukle at Pert Deposit yes terday by the lash stick of a raft and quite severely injured. His ankle, when he passed through here at 0:20 last evening en his way home, was terribly swollen. Fraim was employed en the raft en which he was huit. A man named Martin, a dealer in point peint ings etc., from Baltimore, was bicycling his way down Locust street last evening when he ran into a drove of boys, who had been following the Buffalo Bill party, scattering some, upsetting ethers aud finally overturning himself and vehicle by colliding with a chunky boy with plenty of resistance. Ne one hurt. The fust meeting of the Harrisburg con vocation of the Protestant Episcopal church was held last evening in St. Paul's church at this place, the Rev. Francis Ricker, of Mcchanicsburg, officiating. At the meeting of this morning at which Hely Communion services were Held the Rev. Mr. Platt,of Lewistown, officiated. The audience was called upon te fellow a portion of the career of the "Prairie Waif," who, as a little fivc-ycar-eld girl, was stolen by white men disguised as In dians. Her subsequent life, until she reached the age of sixteen, was spent among the Indians, but at this time the tribe te which she was attached was almost exterminated, and it was while she was making her way te the white settlements with a friendly Indian that her Indian friend was killed by renegade white men, who were about carrying her off into another life of captivity, when she was rescued by Buffalo Bill. Bill tell in love with her, propesod and was accepted, and was about being married when she was again carried off by the Danites ; was again rescued by Buffalo Bill, who placed her in the arms of her father, who turned out te be General Brown, and Bill having previously received that gentleman's con sent te their union, we are led te believe that a wedding seen took place. The fre quent storms of applause arc sufficient proofs that the audience was pleased. In the course of the play Buffalo Bill gave an exhibition of fancy sheeting with a rifle and he made some geed shots. The Ladies' aid society of St. Jehn's Eng lish Lutheran church will give a sociable in Shuler's hall te-morrow evening at which all kinds of refreshments will be served. Whatever amount is netted will go towards furnishing the room for the purpose of a Sunday school. An admis sion fee of ten ccuts will be charged, but one's ticket will entitle him te its worth in Jtfrcshments. THE DOCTORS. Visit te Yerk and Richmond. Te-morrow a number of the members of the Lancaster county medical association will visit Ye'ik, Pa., te participate in the opening of the free hospital established in that borough by the generosity of Mr. D. E. Small under the directieu of the Yerk county medical society We are told the following among ether members will at tend : Drs. Jehn L. Atlcc. Carpenter, Al bright, M. L. Hcrr, A. J. " Henry Chalfant, residing between At glcn and Parkcsburg, is making an effort toward building up a town. His place is about half way between the above named places. He does net knew as yet whether he -will accept. Burglary at Catnarse. Between 1 and 2 o'clock this meraing thieves broke into the store of Jehn H. Bair. at Camargo, Eden township, by forcing open the back shutters. They then opened the store deer, rolled the safe out into the yard and 'blew it open with gunpowder. The noise of the explosion awakened Mr. Bair. He get up and seeing the thieves fired at them which caused them te decamp hastily. An examination of the safe showed that the explosion had only forced open the outer deer, the inner one remaining intact, se the thieves get nothing by their veutuie except a dollar or two of loose change. They left behind them a long cold chisel and another heavy chisel with a wooden handle, the latter of which had been recently sharpened and the edge freshly broken off. The thieves were tracked "te near New Providence where the. trail was lest. This is the third time Mr. Bair's premises have been visited by burglars. Even had the thieves succeeded in blowing open the inside apartment of the safe, they would have get nothing of value. A Dangerous Situation. He became entangled in the harness as he lay there, and in his strug gles kicked the ether horse who began kicking in turn, aud for a time the situa tion became perilous. Mrs. Sprccher was helped from the carriage, aud the driver and many persons who came te his assistance, seen get the horse te his feet without fur ther damage, though the horse may be injured somewhat. The street department cannot be tee prompt in repairing these holes in the Belgian block pavements. The Firemen's Tournament. The American tire company, of this city, has received an invitation from the Lib-: erty fire company, Ne. 3, of Reading, te be their guests en the occasion of the great firemen's tournament te take place in that city next September. The invita tion will no doubt be acccptcl at the next meeting of the American. The Hetel War. In the United Strtes circuit court this morning Judges McKeunan and Butler made the following decree restraining the issue of the blauket mortgage bends by the Philadelphia & Reading railroad company. "And now,en the 27th day of April, 1881, it is ordered, adjudged and decreed, that until the llnal heariug of this case, or until further order of the court, the de fendant corporation and the ether defend ants, and each of them, be, aud they hereby arc, enjoined from executing this mortgage upon the property of the cempa ny ler leU,UUU,0U0 as mentioned in the bill, and from issuing any bends or obligations secured by such mortgages upon the property of the company, and from doing any aet towards the carrying out of the scheme of an issue of bends or obligations as a part of an issue or issues amounting in the aggregate te $150,000, 000, te be secured by a new mortgage as set forth in the bill aud the exhibits there to attached." Aule Colloquy Between Harris and liawe. Washington, Apiil 27. The vice pres ident laid before the Senate the un finished business, being the reso lution for the clcctieu of officers of the Senate. After two or three ineffectual roll calls Mr. Harris moved that tlie Senate go into executive session, .stating that there were three hundred nominations ou the table awaiting action. Mr. D.iwcs inquired where the senator get his information, inasmuch as the pres ident's messages wetc still scaled. While Mr. Dawes was speaking a mes sage was received from the president, and Mr. Harris taking the manifold copy of the nominations which accompanied each message, laid it upon Mr. Dawes' desk with the remark that he get his informa tion in that way. Mr. Dawes said that he could net place much reliance en this tissue paper, though gentlemen en the ether eide might de se. The motion te go into executive session was lest yeas 2:3, nays 23. Singerly, publisher of the Philadelphia Recerd, charged with libel ing City Controller 1'attisen and the controller's clerk, Wellf, was concluded this morning by the jury rendering a verdict of acquittal. The suit grew out of an article in tlie Recerd charging that the city controller had signed au unlawful warrant by which, in connection with the clerk, a contractor had obtained $'130 from the city treasury in violation of law. The Republi can senators held caucus this morning te exchange views concerning the deadlock, but up te the time of the meeting of the Senate had reached no conclusion. It was agreed that the caucus should re assemble after the adjournment of the Senate this afternoon. There are no indications of what the determination will be.
