5SS2SSE2SS LANCASTER DAILY INTELLIGENCER, THURSDAY, APRIL 14. 1881. Haraastrr fntclligencet. THURSDAY EVENING, APRIL 14, 1881. Farm arf UartfeB. Tltaelr fletai r Seasonable Interest. German town Telegraph. Whatever difference of opinion tliere inay be among farmers an te the propriety of having trees in pasture fields as a re sort for 'cattle in very warm weather, no en can deny that the advantage they are te animals in the midst of the heated term beyond the damage the trees may de the land, in very considerable. But it must be understood that some trees de mere dam age te the ground than ethors, and these are well known te most farmers, who will exercise their own judgment when select ing them. The cherry is confessedly one of these which, while it hurts the land scarcely appreciably, is as fine a tree for shade as any in the catalogue, and besides affords a profit in fruit. Where will be found a morn beautiful shade tree than the Black Eagle, Elten, or Dewner's Late cherry ? They are hardy and geed bearers. Then again there is the yellow locust which is one of our most beautiful trees, though net generally he dense in its . foliage as the cherry, which does no per ceptible injury te the land,nd the weed of which is valuable, like tlie cherry, when there mar be occasion te remeve them. TIiche facts show that there is no geed reaieu why the cattle should be de prived of this great protection against summer heat en the ground of damage te the laud, which is seriously done by tuo tue tuo eak, the walnut, the boeeh, and sdrnu tAhurt. Prepare far the Fruit Crep. This is thu month when all should pre pare for the fruit we anticipate in time te come. They all require a longer or shorter period of time before one can enjoy their wholesome IiikcIeuhucss. The strawberry is the quickest te repay us for the labor iMsstewcd, and pay us tee a thousand fold. It is a wonder te watch the littly shy plant producing in a single year's growth such enormous, captivating ami, te many, un equalcd fruit. The raspberry, the cherry, the currant and the gooseberry are the nest in order in their hastu te contribute te oureujeyineiit. But considering all these manifold blessings vouchsafed te us by the Great Giver of every geed and perfect gift, hew-insignificant is the labor required el man in placing in our possession the un grudging munificence which overwhelms us. If the occupants of plots of ground, even in some of our largest towns, would leek about them carefully they would he sur prised at. the space they possess for the growing of fruit of almost every descrip tion fiem pears down te currants. Space can he wonderfully economized for this purpose when we once :.et about te de se. Itoein would he found for a dozen dwarf lar trees, one standard Lawrauce icar tree, a couple ei'cheriy trees, .half a dozen grape vines, a oeil-sized strawberry bed, two or three dozens of raspberry canes, a dozen currant, hushes and se oil. Where thine is plenty of room at. command, even whui the fiuitis intended only for home consumption, all these varieties should he limit iplit-d by making selections from our own fruit list, which we semi -yearly t'erieet and ii'publish. Agent for Reigart's Old Wine Stere, by a prominent practising physi cian et this county, who has extensively used the Brandy referred te In his regular practice. It is commended te the attention of these at il ietcd with Indigestion and Dyspepsia. BRANDY AS A MEDICINE. This new much abused Alcoholic Stimulant was never intended as n beverage, but le be used as a medicine of great potency in the eu re of some of the destructive diyeiLses which sweep away their annual thousands of victims. With a purely nhllanthrepic motive we pre sent te the favorable notice et invalids espe cially theso afflicted with that miserable dis ease Dyspepsia, a spcclllc remedy, which i nothing mere or less than Brandy. The aged, with Iccble appetite and mere or less debility, will find this simple medicine, when used properly, A Sovereign Remedy or all their ills and aches. Be it, however strictly understood that we prescribe and use but one article, and that is REIGART'S OLD BRANDY, Sold by our enterprising young Irlend, II B SLAYMAKER. This Brandy has steed the test for years, and has never railed, as Tar as our experience extends, and we therefore givtt the prelcrence eyer all ether Brandies no tter with hew many Jaw-breaking French tillea iliey are branded. One-fourth or the money that Is yearly thrown away en various impotent dyspepsia specifics would suflice te buy all the if randy te cure any such case or uses. In proof of the curative powers of Beigart's Old Brandy, In cases et Dyspepsia, we can summon niim hers of witnesses one case in particular we cite: A hard-working tanner had been .ANictcd with an exhaustive Dyspepsia ler a number of years; his stomach would reject almost every kind of feed; he hud sour eructatiens con stantly ue appetite in fact, he was obliged te restrict his diet te crackers and stale bread, and as a beverage he used McGrnnn'n Reet Beer. He is a Methodist, and then, as new, S reached at times, and in ids discourses often cclaimed earnestly against all kinds of strong drink. When advised te try Reijrart's Old Braudy, In his case, hfc looked up with aslenl-nuient, but alter hearing et its weudcriut ellects in the cases or some or his near acquaintances, he at last consented te fellow 'our advice. He used the Brandy faithtully and steadily; the ilrst bottle giving him an appetite, and before the second was taken he was a sound niun, with a stomach capable of digesting anything which hejehese te cat. He still keeps it and uses u lit tle occasionally; and since lie has this medi cine he has been of very little pecuniary bene fit te the doctor. A PRAcrisisu Phtbiciaw. II. . SLAYMAKER.
