THE New York forgers have become so bold that they now forge injunctions from courts, in order to interfere in legal pro- ceedings Tiu Bourbon Prince and Princess, whose romantic marriage recently created such a sensation in New York-, are said to have disappeared from a Wishington hotel without paying their board. HENRY S. ii'ocru has taken the field against A. J. in Tennessee, and goes into details to prove that he is not to be trust ed. Tennessee , roust be indeed benight ed to need any information on this point- A CAR is now being built in Jersy City which will be the costliest, the largestand one of the most elegant in the world. It is to be run on the Eric road, and will cost $60,000. THE New York Times thinks those who talk so glibly about transferringeanalla to to this country, ought to inquire whether the people there are willing to be sold to pay England's debts. As extensive and valuable gold mine has recently been examined near Warsaw, Mil ton coanty, Georgia, and its quality tested. It has eight distinct veins, and has been long known to residents of the country. RS . HARRIET BEECIIER STOWE gives up her plantation in Florida, for the reason that her title, acquired at a military tax sale, does not hold good; and the original owner regains possession, paying Mrs. Stowe the amount she expended for the estate. Mas. MARY GRANT, of Richmond, was married in that city on Thursday of last week, to Mi. Ford, of Goochland county, Virginia. It will be remembered that they were subjects of the article in the Southern Opinion, which resulted in the killing of its editor, H. .Rives Pollard. ALAJ 01:DANIEL GlixtrA 31. died in Nash ville on the 10th instant. lie was Secre retary of State of Tennessee in 1523; has held various State offices since, and was Register of the United Slates Treasury during the administration of President Polk. TRAIN-GEORGE-FRANCIS-thus ad dresses the editor of the N. Y. Indepsd ent: " Theo<torus, King of the Abyssinia, early prosperity lies spoilt you.. Those the gods wish to destroy they first make wear long hair and woolen stockings; and then edit a religious newspaper devoted to poisoning mankind with quack medi cines." Interesting to Butchers. In Chicago, in May next,:a grand con test will take place between all the butch ers in the ctiuntry for a champion belt, to be awarded to the best beef-killer. It will be ornamented with 'a central solid gold plate and eleven silver plates. The prize to be contested for will soon be placed on ex hibition in that city. The winner of the belt is to be styled the champion beef ki 11- er of the United States. The Pope and Free Masonry. The Pope's bull against masonary "Those Free Masons are nothing but sects of iniquity, bound together only by com plicity in odious crimes. They are full of perverse manceuiers and diboalical arti fices; corruptors of morals and destroyers of every idea of honor, truth or justice; propagators of monstrous opinions; dis seminators of abominable vices and unheard of wickedness; overthrowers of all author ity, whether of the Catholic Church or civil society; and capable" (such is the astounding conclusion) "of driving God himself out of heaven if it were possible!' Decoration Day. We notice that journals all through the State are calling, attention to the anniver sary of the day fixed upon for decorating the graves of soldiers. Most of them pub lish ,the day wrong, as the 13th, of May. -The time is May 30th, which this year occurs on Sunday. Last year the day was observed quite generally, and with much feeling and enthusiasm, and we trust that this year its observance will be even more general. The date is fixed on the 30th of May, in order to have pleasant weather and a greater profusion of flowers than could be procured earlier in the season. Waste of Pine - Forests. Tt is.caleulated_ that-at the present rate of consumption the -entire pine forests of Michigan will be cut down in less than seventy years; and as 'Mich ig-an is by far the largest pine producing State in the Union, there is every reason to expect a scarcity of lumber before many years. In 18c7, 1 , 3 78,285,000 feet were produced in that State. Thirty acres of-good ship timber are required to build a common size lake steamboat. It seems as if it were time for. us ,to adopt something similar -to the French' System, for ' - the 'planting and protection of forests. _ Irnportaut to Letter Writers According to recent Chanoe in the reg ulations:of' the Post-Office Deparment, no letters addressed: to initials will be deliv ered at anyiesidenee, nor in any post-office box_ The ran 'who addresset his commu nications to A..13:0., box 1,000, many rest assured 'that his epistle will.never be posited in the box- iu queptioni, but that, on the other hind, it wine immediately destroyed. The information we desire to impress upon the popular mind especially concerns the. advertisers in the public press. Many miscellaneous advertisments, such as "Wants," or " Lost" and "Found" notices; simply bear the initials of the ad vertisers, in very many of these instances the address is not to the newspaper office, but•to some ,boa in-the post-office.
