The amount of Premium Notes represents the rates chargeable on there-fourths of the estimated value of property. The amount of losses to the Com pany for the year. is rune thousand two hundred and seventy-one dollars and twenty cents. p 5.0,27100,1 which includes the recent losses of John Sigle on his Cabinet maker shop and contents, insured for $190,00, and Chris ran Overholtzer on his barn and contents. insured for $025 00. and wagon. shed and contents. insured for 81;5 00, a full account of other losses to the Company daring the year, was published in the weekly papers of the courtly, in the month of November. It is cause for gratulation to the members of the Com pany that the losses for this year are s4 - .soo less than last year, and when it is considered that the estimated value of property insured in this Company is about eight millions of dollars.(138.0110,000,) the losses to the Company trace been comparatively small. It is, how ever, a source of regret and alarm, that nearly three fourths of the sanount of losses for the year, are sup posed to have been occasioned by incendiariee, and that sn every instance without being able to discover the guilty ones. A few years ago, when a large amount of properly had been unmistakably destroyed by incendiaries, a great deal of alarm and anxiety prevailed in the ircighborhoodt meetings were called to devise some plan that would lend to their detection. Amon. , other things done. it was recommended to the Board ' of Directors to offer a large reward, equal in amount to one-lialf of the pro perty destroyed, which was done, but furled in us pur pose The last assessment of 31 per cent , made in Novem ber. and rhe only one for the year, will be audicrent to pay for all losses during the year. The Board availed themselves of the opporamit) to borrow money from indaviduals, to pay fur losses. as they occurred. tit erder to avoid the necessity of narking more than one assess meal for the year, the interest of the money borrowed, being lees than the expenses incurred tit making an as aceisment. The Board wound rake this opportunity - to again ;huffy members of the company woo may have ne glected to pay their assessments, that the time for the payment of PIE some will be extended until the 15th of February. after which time. delinquents wall he called upon by a collector. duly authorized to collect the same, and they will be subject to the payment of mileage as nsual.
