Une of bis slippers was found in the parlor and the track of a wet foot was discovered lead ing f rem tbe parlor to the room occupied by O'Conner. On being charged wltb tbe act by Mrs. Brady, O'Conner crew very Indig nant and bolsterons. Ex-Register and Re corder James Griffin occupied a bed in tbe same room and upon bis making some re mark O'Conner rnsbed upon him and com menced slashing him upon the bead and face with a knife. Pflieger Interfered to save Mr. Griftin'a life when O'Conner turned upon him with bis drawn knife. Pflieger drew a self-acting thirty-eight calibre re volver and called to O'Conner to keep away but he kept coming on wbeo Pflieger fired one shot overhead thinking to warn him. O'Conner who was tbe stronger finally seized Pfl ieger when the latter fired two shots In rjoick succession. One ball pene trated O'Conner's breast near the heart and tbe other struck the collar bone. Seeing that he was badly hart O'Conner was taken to the hospital, and being etill able to speak be admitted that he himself bad been the cau of the affray. He died about one o'clock on Sunday afternoon. O'Conner came to Johnstown from Wash ington about six month ago, was a stone mason by trade and was about forty years of age.
