Making the open season for killing rabbits from October 15 to December 1; limiting the state game preserves to a circumference of nine miles; pro viding that when defendants enter pleas of guilty they be sentenced forth with, without a bill of indictment be ing presented to the grand jury; mak ing constables of boroughs and town ships and supervisors in townships and the employes in the department of forestry ex-ofllcio fire wardens; fix ing the maximum amount to be ex pended by the state armory board for an armory for a company of infantry at $25,000 and for a battery of artil lery or a troop of cavalry at $30,000; providing that in boroughs where the salary of the chief burgess is less than SSO a month the borough council may increase the pay to SSO; authorizing cities, boroughs or townships to con tract with street railway companies to operate their lines; establishing schools for adult foreigners to teach them the English language and Amer ican ideas. Gov. Stuart is closely watching all legislation and proposes to see that all measures promised by the Republican party are enacted. The governor has a very effective club he can wield if he wishes to do so. Me can inform members of the legislature that if they do not pass the measures pledg ed in party platforms he will refuse to 6ign bills in which they are particu larly interested. Governor Is Economical. The governor is likely to surprise and disappoint •< good many legisla tors when bills come to him for his signature. Great "ffort i? being mad" particularly by Dauphin county law makers and thosi of nearby counties, to get through the bill for the capito! park extension. The cost of this im provement would be about $i ".'in.OOO according to estimate. There is also a hill pending for the reconstruction and enlargement of the executive mansion, the cost of which sesti mated at $200,000. It is a safe bet that if these bills should ever reach the govornor ho will veto both of them. The governor stands for econ omy. If he errs it will be on the economical side for he is a conserva tive of the strictest type. He is not making himself very popular with the oid-time machine man, but he seems to be making good with others who are uot of that order. BAN Q. BARTON. Girls Wanted.
