Bailey spent Su. j with his daughter at Packer. Wm. Swanke took a business trip to Packer and Hulls on Satuiday. Buckwheat is pretty much all thrashed here and isjust about a middling crop. Jno. Farringer talks of moving to a farm near Moores City soon. John Hicks caught the first bear of the season and had another in the pen but he gnawed out. Martin Bewen expects to leave here about the middle of the month for a visit to friends in York State. Wm. Logue went to Sinnemahoning today after his family who have been down there siince the diphtheria scare here. Art. Bailey of Sinnemahoning was \ calling on friends here last week, and says the diphtheria scare is over down there. The new kindling wood factory at that place has started up and Barclay Bros, expect to start up their mill about the middle of the month, with logs cut in Jerry Hun, and hauled over their new railroad. While Walter Swanke was out gun ning on Saturday, he rested the muzzle of his Winchester on his shoe and in some manner the gun was discharged and nearly served the middle toe of the foot.
