1 THE DAiLY EVENING TELEGRAPH PHIL AD EL?fH A, SATURDAY, FEttTCtJAflY t, 1871. 5 I I I MI All) R4nATlC. VtieocUr Thimmi' Klrt Concert. The concerts Riven in tills city lut season by Mr. Thomas were only putUlly successful in attracting the attention they deserved from the public. The fart In, they were absolute sur prises to a large number of those who attended them, and the number of performances given was too limited to make a proper impression on the tjoncral public. Mr. Thomas and his or chestra, however, established a reputation that in the future will most certainly lnsnre large and appreciative audiences. The thrco enter tainments announced for last night, this after noon, and to-night have excited tho greatest Interest, aud the attendance at the Acadumy at the first concert last evening was as largo and appreciative as could bo desired. The performance was one in regard to which it is impossible to say anything but praise. Tho selections were excellent, and exhibited the characteristics of widely different schools of music. They combined the grave and g ay, the scientific and the merely popular, in a manner calculated to suit tho tastes of a miscellaneous but not uncultured audience, while tho perfect style in which they were rendered was itself a rare ploamire to nil who listened to thorn. Mr. Thomas not only has his orchestra in perfect training, but being something more than a musical drill-master, he is able to express all the sentiment and scn-iitjus charms of music in such a manner as no other leader we have ever had here lias done. Tlif first part of tho programme last cv-inlng resented compositions of somewhat e ab rate character, and consisted of the Tann hauser overture, an "adagio" from Beethoven's J'romt-llnv ; a "Polonaise" by Weber, with in Hrtimcnf.it ion by Liszt, and Liszt's sjmphonlc I ofiu of '.'Let. Preludes." The second part was of eoiuewhut HuMer muMc, mid was raido up of the oer((iie to Nieolui's Merry Wires of Windsor, .Schumann's "Tneumcral," 8trauss' "Blue Danube" waltz, a "Nocturne" by Chopin, a Tarant( lie by Liszt, a polka mazourka and polka schnell by Stranss. and the overture to Ambroise Thomas' Miguon. Miss Anna Mehllg executed the "Polonaise" in the first part and the "Nocturne" and "Ta rantello" in the second part in such a manner as to prove herself a pianist of the first rank. She Is undoubtedly one of the most accomplished lady performers on the piano we have had in this city. Hie fully deserved the cordial ap plause that greeted her efforts last evening. The piano used last evening by Miss Mehlig was a Sieiow ay grand, from the warerooms of Ulasius brothers, No. 100(5 C'uesuut street. This magnifieent instrument was remarkablo for its purity and biilllancy of tone, and deserves spe cial mentiou. We regret that Mr. Thomas and his fine combination of talent propose making such a brief stay in Philadelphia at present, and it is to tie hoped that the enthusiasm mani fested by the large audience at the Academy last evening will have the effect of inducing them to return noon and often. The pine tree ban long been known to pos sess valuable medical properties. For pul monary diseases it is doubtful whether any remedy has ns yet been discovered equal to it. It seems to change and renew the very structure on which it acts, and to infuse into the system an indescribable power eqnal to the natural power before disease had even taken hold of the body, so as to make, as it were, an entirely new tissue, and to give a newness of life and energy which one who has been sick a long time knows the value of nt cannot fully describe. The great objec lion, however, to all tnr preparations has been thoir unpleasant taste, and consequent lia bility to sickness and nauseate the stomach. We have before us, however, a preparation of the kind referred to, which obviates all these objectiens, and is as agreeable to the palalo as it is valuuble in the cure of disease. We mean "Dr. "Wishart's Tine Tree Tar Cordial," a real, genuine, bona fuU medicinal cordial, distilled from the pine treo by a process known only to the Doctor himself, the sale and popularity of which are only equalled by the amount of suffering it has relieved, and the number of diseases it is so well calculated to effeotually cure. In the Tine Treo Tar Cordial the invalid may be sure he has a remedy of very extraordinary power for throat and lung affections, and when taken in con junction with the "Great American Dyspepsia rills,'' an infallible cure for dyspepsia, liver complaint, sick headache, and the many ail ments arising from a disordered state of the liver and digestive organs. In our sphere as publishers we feci some degree of cautiousness in what we recommend to our readers, but when we know of any thing of valuo to the publio we shall not hesi tate to make it known through our columns. We advise those of our renders who are suffer ing from dyspepsia, etc., to give Dr. Wishart'g celebrated remedies a trial. A medical expert, holding honorable oolle giate diplomas, devotes his entire time to the examination of patients at the office parlors. Associated with him are three consulting phy sicians of acknowledged eminence, whoso ser vices are given to the publio free of charge. This opportunity is offered by no other in stitution in the country. Thousands of certificates of absolute cure (when all else failed to afford relief), as wll as recommendatory letters without number, have been received by Dr. "Wishart, the pro prietor, attesting the uniform success with which they have been employed. Many of said letters are from the highest sources, in cluding eminent statesmen, Governors, State judges, clergymen, etc. men slow to be con vinced, prejudiced perhaps at first, but feel ing themselves under a sense of duty bound to tell the Doctor what they had done for them and to recommend them to others. The Great American Dyspepsia Tills and Tine Tree Tar Cordial are sold by all druggists throughout the world. They can also be obtained at Dr. WISnART'S GKEAT FAMILY MEDICINE STOKE, No. North SECOND Street, Philadelphia, where a successful practising physician can be consulted each day, free of charge. Those in need of professional aid or counsel will do well to make a note of the above.
