The water works built at Chester City by Mr. Isaac L. Cussio, formerly Chiut Engineer of the l'hiladelphia Water Works, have been com pleted, and yesterday the Councils of that city celebrated fhe event by a bauqaet at the Dela ware Housp, to wh'ch Mr. Lyttleton and several other in embers of the Piuliidelhla Councils were Invited. Previous to the diuuer the mem bers of Councils and Invited puests visited the engine-house, reservoir, and other poiuts of In terest. 1 he ermine-house is in the South Ward, the newest part of the city, and the water is drawn from the Delaware through a twelve-inch main, 433 feet Ions;. The reservoir 19 about one mile lrom the Works, and has an elevation of one hundred feet above high tide. It is con nected with the pumps by a twelve-Inch main. The reservoir is sufficiently eleva'.cd to supply the upper stories ot the highest buildings in the city limits. About five miles of dhtributiug mslna, of 6, 8, and 10 inches, have already been laid, and water introduced into a number of buildings lu various parts of the city. The W'oiks proper cost about $75,000, and including real estate, $120,000. The expenditure has been met by bonds lmed by the City of Chester, the property In the South Ward being pledged for the redemption ot the same. The Eight Uojpb Law. A 6eries oi resolutions were read, which had bicn adopted by the workingmen of the Penn- Bjlvania Kuliroad Company. On motion, a committee of one from each shop represented was appiuted to drait resolutions, to be presented to the shops, expressive ol the object oi the ineetin'r. It was also Bgteed that two thousand circulars should be printed for the purpose of being circulated through the different shops. After some discus sion in reference to the financial wauts of the Association and ibe election of a treasurer, resulting in the selection of Mr. Alexander Long, the rucetlmr adjourned. Fdnehal op Akothbu Victim. The funeral of the late Mr. Henry R. Trough, victim of the seaside disnster, took place yesterday atternoon, lrom his residence, No. 230 Washington avenue. It will be remembered thnt Mr. Trough was drowned at the same time Mr. Joseph T. Vau kirk, Mr. Lewis Morwilz, and Mr. U. M. Ballou perished in the sea, but his body was not re covered until Wednesday lr.-t. and then it was washed ashore at Brigantiue Beach. The funer.il cortege yesterday numbered eisbteeu carriages, find was attended bv the U. S. Lodge, No. 31, I. O. of O. F., Southwark Viti Company, and the Bourd of School Directors of the Second District, besides the relatives aud lriends of the deceased. Keliatous services were held at the Louse, by the Rev. Burton KoIIock. Interment took place in the Philadelphia Cemetery. A Meeting or Salesmen. A meeting of travelling salesmen was held last evening at the northwest corner of Fourth and Walnut streets. The object ot the meeting was to form an asso ciation of travelling saleeiueu. having tor its cbiect the perlectiou of such measures as would Insure to all talesmen travelling on business a discount on their bills at the various hotels throughout the country, and also to obtain for the use ot its members copies of all license laws in the different States. The hills to the west of the mountain are similar in their character to those in the vicinity of Snicker's ar.d Afhby's Gaps in Virginia, though not so' profusely wooded, bugles are seen sailing mystically around.
