A noted quack In South Wales, cnllinir him self "Dr. riarti"," has just got into trouble. Ho was brought before the magistrates at lihava der, a short time sinco, and the following evi dence was elven against him: Thoma Mvnor Jones faid he arrived in Kueland, lrni America, on the 6th of November list ; he had been ill for a long tune, and, havir.g beard of Dr. Harris, connulied him. He met the doctor, win exa mined, and ptiid 2 down and 2 on the 21st ot November. The doctor told bira that he had been "witched" by a woman iu America, wrote something on a piece of paper which he sewed in a bag, and told witness to wear it round his neck, but on no account to let the bait tail to the ground, or the charm would be broken. The doctor promised to Bhow hun in a glass the woman who had "witched" bun, but he did not do so. He was no better, and though he bad re ceived medicine it had done him no good. Edwin Jones, brother to last witness, said he too had consulted Dr. Harris, who made him lie down on a bed while he examined his chest, right knee and right arm. which be said were out of joint, and that be too had been bewitchei. He paid him about 6 altogether, and Dr. Hirri gave him a paper to wear, on which wa writ ten, "The fourth is Majuoui, one of tbe powers who hath the ability ot euperticient adminis tration and protection, that U at one and tbe same time to be present with many. Hu pre sence must be sought by humility and prayer. The filth srood genius is Uaoinuru, an angel of celestial briebtnefs, who hath the peculiar ability of renderine his pupil invisible to any evil spirit whatsoever." The witness added that he saw Dr. Harris write the inscription, and tbe doctor told him that there was not such a man as he in Eug land, bcetland, or Wbis, but there was one iu France who possessed the same powers. Samuel Phillips, of Builth, bad been dupe J, and paid several instalments of ten shillings. The lloctor told him that if be did not give him more money he would "see him in h ." as ho was master of "h and the devils." He said lie had been bewitched by a woman on Christ mas day. Inspector Jones said the prisoner's name did not appear in toe "Medical Register" for 1867, and that he had issued circulars callin himself "Doctor," and the reason he appreheuded him was bis obtaining moaey by false pretenses as a medical man without a proper diploma. Tne magistrates committed tbe prisoner to take his trial Jt tne next Kaonorsnire assizes. t FUHlMl f Put, BEDDING, ETC JJO HOUSEKEEPERS.
